It's been 6 years since I quit smoking and your videos were so helpful at the time, along with Allen Carr's book. Looking at the comments, it seems you helped lots of people. What a great thing. I hope you come back to KZbin again one day.

I am half way through the first starter pack. They only side effect that I've gotten is the overwhelming sleepiness, even after sleeping for near 12 hours. But after 2 weeks in, I find that I want cigarettes/cigars way less than I used to. I now smoke about 3 cigarettes and 3 cigars (i.e. White Owl) a day. My fear about quitting is that I have never had the desire to quit. I literally enjoy smoking cigarettes and especially enjoy cigars. But my doc told me that I was a half percent away from needing cholesterol medicine to prevent a heart related incident within the next ten years. While I am one who doesn't care to live past 75, I do want to enjoy the next 27 years with my wife (I'm going on 48). So that has become my driving reason to quit smoking. I do think that I'll need another month of it, but I'm not giving up. In the past, whenever I tried to quit I became an unbearable asshole to the point that my wife/partner/girlfriend would beg me to start smoking again. One of my friends warned me that I would become twice that while on Chantix. So far, though, I've not had that experience. I've not had the crazy quick mood changes. But that might be because I'm just to damn tired for anything else. Any time is a good time to quit smoking, but I highly recommend taking a 2 week vacation and starting on Chantix the week before. That way you can get through without it affecting your work. I've actually had to miss some time at work due to just how sleepy I've been. I should note that I'm also on medicine that's supposed to prevent migraines. The migraine prevention medicine may be working in tandem with Chantix to cause the extra sleepiness. I'm not sure.

I am almost 6 months into this new stint of sobriety. I have achieved sobriety before. This time is very very different, though. I have had more drunk dreams than I can count. Almost every single night for weeks, sometimes. They truly are awful and sometimes I wake up and go "Oh my god DID I actually drink?" knowing that I didn't, however it just feel so real! I'm learning to appreciate those dreams, though. Because they truly are reminders of how I never want to go back to that life.

Well you have a choice here you can have a stroke and then not be able to move your limbs you can have no circulation in some of your limbs and then have them to have to be amputated or you can go ahead and stop smoking

Day three going on right now! I’m still exciting although I have thought about going to the store ALOT today not going to. I’ll smoke 4 or 5 back to back and be right back to that super miserable trap. The last attempt I caved on day two and cried as I smoked a cig. I knew I was back in the trap. Lord help me out!!!

I smoked since I was 14 and when I turned 28 I switched to vaping, unfortunately I vaped heavy until 6 days ago I put on the patch and threw everything in the trash ! All vape juice and vape pens ! Say 1 and 2 were tough and day 3 and 4 were too easy but now 5 and 6 feel a little harder But the patch helps a lot and gum

When you said, "...having a cigarette will not cure this." That hit me profoundly. I think I leaned on them because they were my back-up, but they are not, they are just a way of hurting our self because we are hurt. I learn a great deal from your videos. Thanks for putting this out there.

I'm in the same boat @ I've followed Chris for as long as he's been on KZbin. He's the best, because he keeps everything real, and everyone who is trying to quit smoking cigarettes can relate to everything he says! I've stopped and started again, Stopped and started again and now I'm struggling because I have to quit smoking cigarettes again because I'm having breathing problems because of the phlegm built up in my lungs! I've also burnt many things from cherry's falling off the cigarettes! Ruined Clothes Furniture, Carpet! The list goes on! I even had an auto Accident because of a cherry from a cigarette fell off in the car! I swerved off the road and hit a fire hydrant when I was in my 20's!

It's weird to me. Quit for 23 days now. The first 3 days were horrible because I had a lot of physical withdrawal, but after that I felt great. I was kinda sad on day 7, felt better the week after. Then suddenly started feeling horrible. Like actually depressed. After 14 days I felt like I hated myself, no one loved me, and I hated my job that I loved the week before. Then some days were better, now some days are horrible. Just a few hours ago I felt at my lowest, like literally 100% lost. I couldn't do anything but stare into my room. Not even craving a cigarette, just sad. And now suddenly I'm positive again. And in the two years I've smoked, I've been a super positive person. No real bad days, barely any sadness, could deal with even the worst things easily. And now it's all against me. I hope in a few weeks I'll feel like my old self again. I know that's who I am deep inside, a happy positive guy. I'll get there.

Key thing I'm learning: WATER is your best friend during withdrawal, you going to need plenty of it.
