The absolute best and a class act on top of that. So much fun to watch videos of Hurley in action. And he was always faithful to Porsche.

What a gorgeous and highly skilled work of art. Looks like a small block Mopar, which is ideal for this classic Dodge. Beautiful Dodge.

I really don't know why they didn't sell better. My first car was a 1962 Lark 2 door and I absolutely loved the car. The 64-66 ditched the Mercedes Benz styling of the earlier cars and looked like almost everything else in Detroit

Just getting to see these cars every day and hear them tearing up the roads by the dealership is still the coolest thing. The 917k going god knows how fast for miles and you can still hear it was amazing. Glad I got to be apart of brumos while it lasted.

The big three forced or bleed them out of competing , Studebaker was head and shoulders, re: quality wise and the big three did not want that.

Great looking car... never saw one before... or the Wagonnaire version I saw today, either... Would have kept Studebaker alive with some bigger engine options... 4 speed option...

Nice car! I remember when in the 60's people were hesitant to buy Studebakers because rumor was they were going out of business. I am sure that hurt sales .Larks were very common then.

Top speed 170? Where did this car ever go that fast? I love the B16. I think it was a fabulous looking car for its day and it worked very well. It was light and very agile but top speed was never its forte. Even at Le Mans it was geared for 155 - 160.

Growing up in California in the 50's and '60's, all the cars Dad bought, we were riding around in 30/50 thousand dollar classics, and never had a clue!
@gordonvincent7316 жыл бұрын
I believe '65 was the first year of the Chevy 283 c.i. V8. When I was a kid, Dad bought a beautiful '57 Study long bed pickup, light blue with a white grill. It had the 6 cylinder motor. It was just to weak for Dad, so he traded it off for a '59 GMC.

chances are you won't see this in time but we are going to post a 66 sport sedan just like this on bringatrailer next week. It's black with oxblood (dark red) interior and just 23,000 actual miles....maybe go there and see what it went for.

It is a treasure. I've owned 3 of these and older people were sometimes obviously confused by these cars. They knew Studebaker well, but did not realize for whatever reason these were even built. I had two Cruisers and one Daytona, all well optioned and luxurious cars. That was another thing that confused people, they associated Studebaker with Larks, smaller and stripped down. By 1966 Studebaker was definitely heading up market in quality, materials, build. It's tragic the deal with CMI failed and the Studebaker board were only interested in continuing the Studebaker conglomerate, having lost the will to continue building cars even at a profit. Very hard to believe today marks the 50th year since the official announcement to discontinue Studebaker, although Avanti continued to be built up to 2007.

We are hearing that Cars & Coffee Irvine is seeking a new venue as they are being 'shut down' by local officials. The last C&C of the year will be the last at the Ford/Mazda/Taco Bell parking areas. Take a look at our short video from this great weekly gathering of enthusiasts in Southern California.
