You can often meet secunda and tritonus in Bulgarian folk music and the reason for that is that this songs were created by the Bulgarians during the five hundred Ottoman period when the Bulgarian people were feeling suppressed and abandoned. And only because we managed to preserve our language, orthodox religion and traditions we survived in this five centuries of foreign dominiation. That’s why Bulgarian folklore had this unique style and the dissonance were using so frequently. It basically has been created during very dark period of Bulgarian history.

Ethnic homogeneity produces the best things ❤
@vestavind15 күн бұрын
People have always migrated and moved. Ethnic groups have always been mixed with each other. Bulgaria is one example, because the land is located between Europe and the Middle East. Imagine how many different gropus of people have migrated in that area for thousands of years. Ethnic homogeneity is not really possible is it? The world have always been connected. An example, even though I am Norwegian, my ancestry is still Portugese, Finnish and Sami because different ethnic groups migrated, traded and moved in the northern part of Norway. This is why I hate when people say I decend from the Vikings just because I am Norwegian, because that is not true

For those interested... Kaval sviri, mamo, gore, dole, mamo, gore, dole, mamo. Kaval sviri, mamo, gore, dole, mamo, pod seloto. Ya shte ida mamo da go vidya, da go vidya mamo, da go chuya. Ako mi e nashencheto shte go lyubya den do pladne, ako mi e yabandzhiyche, shte go lyubya dor do zhivot. A kaval is playing, mother, up, down, mother, up, down, mother. A kaval is playing mother, up, down, mother, near the village. I will go, mother, to see it, to see it, mother, to hear it. If it's someone from our village I'll love him only for a short time, If it's a foreigner (i.e. from another village) I'll love him all my life.

typical folk love song. girl hears someone playing "kaval" (type of flute) and is already in love without even knowing who is playing. saying if its someone from her village she will love him for a short time. but if its someone from another village she will love him forever.
