To be a millionare restaurant owner, or rather, to walk away with a million in your pocket, you start with two millions, and walk away when there is only one left. All restaurants loses money. It is a law of nature. If you charge what it cost, you do not get customer, so you cut corners, until the corners cut you. Your best option is to sell to another punter, before you are closed down. Otherwise, know your area, know your target group. Most guests eat out to see other people, not to have a gourmet meal,. Three hours net salary, is the average acceptable for a person in a friendly restaurant . And you do not muck about with schedules, when they are set.

I have been working as a waiter or a bartender for about 9 years on and off. Completely agree with this from the other side, meaning its very frustrating to work in a place without a good system, it usually rewards lazy workers, punishes good ones and it makes your days just dreadful, frustrating and just not fun at all.

I dont make them put their phones away. I simply asign them a task and they can have an earbud in.

Hey Ryan, the "intergalactic world headquarters" is looking pretty sweet! These are great tips! I love the idea of seating guests in different sections according to pace of the meal! I think the biggest challenge is teaching that level of empathy and awareness to crew. Thanks for the ideas!

How do you handle discounts in your restaurant?
@tusharaipatwar
@tusharaipatwar 20 күн бұрын
Discounts can be a double-edged sword in the restaurant business! We use them strategically to draw in new customers or during slow periods, but we’re cautious about not overusing them. It’s all about balance-offering value without training customers to wait for discounts. Instead, we also focus on creating loyalty programs or value-added experiences that encourage regular visits.

Hi Restaurant boss, Just started a great opportunity to run and manage a takeaway. I've recently been watching your videos and today I watched some again to refresh my mind. I'm going to try your advice about managing the systems I create and not the people🎉 I did want to ask if there is anywhere you have examples of core systems(like hygiene and cooking). I have made systems already but I wasn't as specific as I should be and wanted to see what a propper made system should look like. I would also like to know how you handle repeat offenders in your work place. Most people want to and will learn but I have encountered one that has become a rotten apple and bad example. I have given verbal warnings and written warnings(that's how it's normally done here in South Africa) to emphasize the point that we should work towards improving the takeaway but it does not seem to phase them. I am also not just handing out warnings at a rapid rate as I understand mistakes can be made. I hope you could respond to me when you are available to. Thank you
