My sister says kids should sit back faced until they’re at least 12 years old, or until they have developed enough. Are there any research on this?

12!? Wtf
@ashbee6701Ай бұрын
The spine isn't fully developed until 6 years old so they should ideally rear face until then. Most erf car seats go to either 25 or 36 kg. A 12 year old is way heavier than that, so no this isn't correct, but rear facing for as long as possible, maxing out the car seat is best.

I figure it out for the cross. You can remove it, put back the big part back and then put the cross on top of it and fix the cross with the two band on the left and right.

Wheres the rear end collision?
@reggie94022 ай бұрын
Rear end collisions are less frequent and typically don't involve the same forces. Sure, make your decision based on rear end collisions if you want to, but the logic seems to be lacking.

Hi Pedro, you should use the Baby Shell from birth up until 86 cm. The Baby Hugger (cushion inside the Baby Shell) can be removed sooner.

What about an accident from the rear? Getting rear ended would render front facing, safer. Wouldnt it?
@fortinbras472 жыл бұрын
Perhaps, but there isn't the same likelihood of getting accelerated forward at 20 times the force of gravity in an accident as getting decelerated at 20 times the force of gravity. There isn't symmetry between front, side, and rear collisions. There are clear, evidence and statistics based recommendations of pediatricians and child safety experts that keeping kids in rear facing car seats for as long as possible is overall safer. My intuition is that you're right in saying it's not safer in EVERY case, but rear facing is certainly safer overall.
@alicef83102 жыл бұрын
No?? The direction of travel is still the same, baby would be flung forwards still in a forward facing seat
@dts78242 жыл бұрын
@@alicef8310 no, you've got that wrong. In a rear collision, it's safer in a front facing seat. You would be pushed back into your chair if someone hit you from behind. Yes you would move forward again after that, but at the point of greatest force you could be back in your chair. Think what happens if you were stood on a skate board moving slowly forward and someone kicked the skateboard forward from behind, you would fall off the back, not the front

Ok and now what about a rear end collision?
@dawnmoon902 жыл бұрын
The opposite happens, the front-facing would perform better than rear-facing. HOWEVER since rear end collisions typically create significantly less force compared to straight on frontal and/or side collision - it's still much safer to be rear-facing as you protect them from the most dangerous accidents and outcomes.
@carolinabridge2 жыл бұрын
Opposite doesn’t happen. The ride down is just different. They crash test body…
@patrycjadomagalska58232 жыл бұрын
now think of it this way. If you get pushed from behind, which way do you fall? Forward. You will still move in the direction of travel, so forward since that is the way the car that hit you is going! The only time forward facing will be safer is if you were to reverse at a high speed
@dts7824 Жыл бұрын
@@patrycjadomagalska5823 how are so many people getting this wrong? What happens when you get pushed forward? Your head snaps BACK. What happens when you accelerate hard forwards, you get pushed BACK into your seat. It's all about inertia and momentum. A forward facing car seat would be safer in a rear end collision, because the force from the impact would initially push you back in your seat if you're facing forward
