In the show first names are used to show the closeness of the relationship, it inflects intimacy and familiarity. Like when Simon tells Daphne to use his given name so people will believe they are in love. Colin takes it a step further by calling Penelope “Pen”. They were always meant to have a deep connection. I think calling her Pen also shadowed that she is Lady Whistledown. There’s something special in the way they say each others name.

People need to understand they are actors. I hope they both leave social media for a while. People need to get their own life.
