Iloilo esplanade failed, because without waiting shade. Walking esplanade is worst, because when unexpected rains comes no waiting shade are available.
@FrankandRhogeАй бұрын
That's the downside but they probably have reasons on why they didn't add a waiting shade.

The fenced up area 34:17 is where the ugly gym used to be. The people didn't like it, everybody wanted it out and wanted a fountain instead, so the city government demolished the gym and a fountain will be constructed, with an amphitheatre to complement it.

It's not just a church, it's a Cathedral, it's the Jaro Metropolitan Cathedral, and is the National Shrine to Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria de Jaro. (Our Lady of the Candles). People cone here to buy blessed candles to light up especially in times of impending calamities, to pray for our Lady's intercession to her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, to protect them from earthquakes, impending storms, fire, accidents, to keep them safe under her blue mantle of protection. This she has proven to help them since the Spanish era, the Japanese bombs. They ask to be given children, and she grants them. Passage in exams, peace in the house, a new job, better salary To thank God through her for helping them in many ways. Her feast day is February 2nd, the day when households cook special dishes for visitors who come from far and near to visit and hear Holy Mass. This is also the day when family members return far places,here and abroad to rekindle family ties, renew friendship, and yodate themselves on the latest developments in Jaro and Iloilo City.

How about Jaro Plaza with the newly restored Jaro Belfry and the Jaro Cathedral. All are beautifully lighted up at night, just like the Molo Plaza, Molo Church, and Molo Mansion. You can also visit at daytime and at nighttine the Cafe Agatona1927 Museum and Restaurant just across Jaro Plaza.

Are you staying at One Spatial? I believe it is actually located in the Mandurriao district, not Molo district, based on what you mentioned. If I’m not mistaken, the river serves as the boundary between both districts. By the way, nice video!

@13:45 I erroneously stated Janiuay means January in the local dialect. This was incorrect. The name derives from two words combined, Jan and Iuay, legend has it two sons from a local Datu.

Take note ILOILO CITY GOVERNMENT - the blogger zeroed in on the garbage and plastic bottles along the Iloilo River, to his immense consternation. Personally, I have also discovered more of those garbage, cats, dogs and fecal matter along the entire stretch of the Esplanade during my tour. The former Mayor of Iloilo, Jed Patrick Mabilog used to conduct regular clean-up drives to pick up all that trash along the Iloilo River in order to promote Iloilo City as a green and clean city. Mayor Mabilog's recent visit to Iloilo City could be an auspicious occasion for him to check how his original brainchild has become, after all these years. But despite all that, the blogger has successfully showcased the splendor of the Esplanade. Let us keep it immaculate at all times. Pride of place is important for us Ilonggos.
@FrankandRhoge2 ай бұрын
Iloilo has always been one of our favorite places to visit and is considered one of Asia's cleanest cities. Seeing some trash along the esplanade was unexpected, although it's understandable given the recent rain, which might have washed up the trash in the river. My wife, being an Ilongga, takes great pride in Iloilo.

On the far right side of the video (18:48 and 19:57) is the monument and statue honoring Sir Nicholas Loney, the acknowledged Father of the Sugar Industry in Iloilo and the Philippines. Sir Nicholas Loney was a British resident of Iloilo who engaged in the sugar industry in ILOILO by providing loans to local producers, providing for their machinery imported from Europe. Because there was a sizable 42 documented British families living in Iloilo, he was appointed Vice Consul. He also invited his nephew, Mr.Hopkyn, to migrate to Iloilo and engage in business, whereupon he opened the Hoskyn's Department Store, the first fixed-price store in the Philippines and acknowledged as the first department store in the Philippines. The building housing tge department store at the Calle Real (JM Basa Street) is still existing. Also in his honor, this tiverside street is named after him - Muelle Loney Street. "Muelle" is a Spanish word which means "Wharf".

Ibig mo sabihin Bacolod, maraming spaghetti wires. You mean Bacolod, it has plenty of thick spaghetti wires in the streets. It's only you who says palaisdaan, all the foreigners and western bloggers are in praise of ILOILO's Esplanades and river and the city's overall cleanliness. You must be from bacolod, because people from that place have the tendency to envy Iloilo by commenting the opposite of what ILOILO is, which is clean, beautiful, orderly, progressive and heavy with well preserved heritage buildings, plentiful well maintained parks and Riverside Esplanades, and plazas and flower gardens, wide choice of restaurants and native eateries, especially friendly and hospitable locals. You are welcome to ILOILO, #Sotanghon80 , my friend.
