Being supportive and present no matter what age or stage of the illness is soooooo important I was diagnosed at age 12 but had symptoms much earlier…I didn’t have a healthy environment and my schizophrenia in adulthood now is just as isolating and confusing as it was back then. Being alone is an invitation directly into the schizo jungle( sorry that’s what I call my brain lol) and it’s way too easy to get lost in there medicine or not we still need a beacon to pull us back to reality. The idea of medication demolishing every symptom and bump in the schizophrenic brain is unrealistic the illness is irrationally complex but that’s especially a fact without help from the people around us.

Hello ADHDers. In my opinion, this guy is the enemy. He is not your friend. His message is basically "your brain is broken unless you buy these meds".

If you have ADD, the worst thing you can do is allow yourself to excuse yourself of everything because you have ADD. Fight it, work around it, work with it - whatever it is you do to try and mitigate the truly life degrading things it impacts on you, do them. Use the knowledge of your diagnoses to empower you to excel, not excuse.

We should keep in mind that these executive functions improve with time and age, however, we still struggle because they develop at a much slower rate than our peers.

I can personally tell you there are most definitely long term effects in children I know this because I have suffered many long term side effects and still struggle today so the nonsense your feeding the public is all a lie there are more than an adequate amounts of research that proves that it's unsafe for children it causes chemical dependency that last a lifetime and you know it so the fact that you stand there and bold face lie to everyone is staggering... the monetary gain that you all get from promoting any stimulant to be given to children should be criminal but you all hide behind mountains of cash while throwing out scraps and feel that people should be grateful for you selling lies that ruin lives... but why should you care you prob made a fortune for saying what they tell you to say..I hope someday you face judgements for your actions... look people and anyone who reads this take it from me stimulants aren't the answer they only cause bigger problems later in life... let your children be children if they are overly hyper and or emotional don't look at it as a medical condition look at what they are eating most of the adhd diagnosis is false and they know it... it's all in diet and literally solved by removing dies from there diets and getting rid of any type of folic acids which is in 90% of breakfast foods... please don't listen to they nonsense this evil person is trying to sell

I’ve always hated being military, yeah, we get benefits but I just lost my friends of 8 years and downgraded from a nice spacious home to a cramped duplex where all six of us don’t fit and it’s just caused so many god damn problems

I was “treated” with ritalin from 6 until i refused to keep taking it when i was 13, i became more depressed the longer i was on it and was so mentally fatigued that the teachers assistant had to do my work for me, other kids thought i was slow or lazy. I also developed several motor tics when i was off it during the weekends and summer vacation, these tics ironically went away as soon as I was back on it and since i came off its been a reoccurring issue for the last 19 years (im 32 now and it’s embarrassing), I’ve mentioned this to doctors but of course they all say theres no evidence of the ritalin being the cause of it. After i came off the medication it took years for me to develop proper social skills but i eventually got the hang of it, people im really not trying to tell you how to parent your kids but seriously think long and hard before putting your kids on a stimulant medication and ask yourself “am i really doing everything i can? Is my kid outside playing enough? Is he/she inside too much? Are they tired at the end of the day? Am i feeding them too much sugar?” I know parenting is no walk in the park and adhd IS REAL because I have it, but this is a chemical that’s stronger than the caffeine in your child’s diet coke. Im not against medication, im currently seeking to try it out again to help me at work, but the developing brain is a fragile thing to toy with.

It would have to be a 50 to 60 year study to see if they get dementias / Alzheimer’s at higher rates or earlier in life. You screw with the central nervous system long term, you WILL have bad outcomes. Do not trust doctors who are just salesmen and women for the evil pharmaceutical industry.

What helped me a lot with my Tourette ticks was recreational use of nitrous oxide/ laughing gas ballon’s. Unfortunately I got addicted to No2 which is not a good thing because No2 when abused Can leave you permanently paralyzed especially if used regularly for hours at a time. I think Doctor’s should study No2 and see if they can provide it in a safe pill form in low doses or something. I think No2 if studied and properly prescribed by a doctor might be a medical brake through for Tourettes. I don’t use Nitrous anymore, I beat that addiction but I did notice my ticks would go away for weeks at a time after me and my friends would use Laughing gas/Nitrous oxide for hours at a time. Some of my ticks went away completely and never came back during and after partying with laughing gas. There might be something there for Doctor’s to do research on. I have used marijuana for 10 years straight and it never helped with my ticks only nitrous. I am not a doctor so don’t take anything I said as medical advice, i am simply sharing my experience and think maybe Doctor’s can do some research between laughing gas and Tourette’s there might be an answer there. I hope the scientific community finds a solution one day. I still have some tics they still pop up from time to time during highly social settings.

I hope so many humans of all ages with add and adhd see this and can make the adjustments I agree my mind is indeed advanced but doesn’t fit in and I have to make adjustments it really is Ferrari engine bicycle brakes and the teachers say any nonstandard brain is a disability it took a lot of negativity before they figured out I’m gifted instead of these shit public school teachers saying disability

I'm not going to self diagnose, but I went too many Many psychologists since the 1980s. First it was ADHD. At age 12, I started to manifest adult versions of myself to cope with extreme anxiety and repetitive voices. No age 38, I am on thiothixene 40mg a day. It's tiring. But i cant let them put their hands on my shoulders and tell me to eat their apple.

I'm dyslexic. I wrote back words. My letters were backwards. At first grade this was found because my new teacher had experience in it. I not only read. I read at a 6th grade level at first grade. I'm an accomplished musician that can read scores at one time. My dyslexic attunement also means I read pages at a time. I can kill a book in a couple of hours .what others find a problem...has been my super power.

Dyslexia isn't a learning disorder. It's seeing things differently. In 3 D.we don't see linerally ....we see as a 3 sided world. Much like left handed have a hard time. Same with dyslexia. It's not a disability. It's an ability not given to most.

There is no solution at this point. Expecting other people to slow down and that a handicapped person can compete on the same level as someone with naturally high iq and mental capacity is not how the world works.

I wonder how much is that is paranormal? We used to lived at a haunted house. I would feel the former owner of the house that just died, but my mom didn't believe me. She finally believe me when I stayed over my cousin's. She heard steps, & noises. We moved after that. Even the next door neighbor, that had a 20 year old, like the movie "My left foot" saw the owner walking in the back yard. Since I was a kid, I had hundreds of paranormal experiences, including a premonitions of the 9/11 WTC attacks the afternoon before. I saw NYC, & both tower covered in smoke. I was standing in between the towers.
