What do you think about when you're improvising? modes, arpeggios, melodies?... how do you connect those ideas? My improvisations sound so mechanical and yours sound so fluid... do you have any advice, tips or tricks?
@noprobllama5404Ай бұрын
It's an improvisation, play something your 5 year old self couldn't even imagine and then keep going, at a certain point every note on the guitar can sound right and it's more like walking for a very long time than anything else. Just keep playing what feels right not just scales!

when people ask me who’s style I want to copy, I always tell them; “Bubby mfckin’ Lewis!” 😮💨🔌. Bubby please give me a guide on how to exercise like this (playing random chords and just soloing over them), how can I learn a beginner way of doing this, should it all start with the learning of all scales?

My bass instructor in 1995 shared the someone he admired told him “interesting solo… maybe if there were fewer notes, some music would fall out.” Dexterity is great, but music is even better.
@BubbyLewisАй бұрын
One interesting thing about music is this.. it has endless possibilities😌 but even with all the possibilities, everyone won’t be able to comprehend or make sense of everything… musicians are like Chefs! Some can dabble in the most basic things like making toast, to super unique and extraordinary cuisine like Beef Wellington.. some can ONLY make toast lol.. and no matter how hard the toast maker desires, they will never be able to speak on behalf of the chef that can make Beef Wellington lol.. it’s actually delusional😅 So a seat it necessary for the toast maker lol.. sit back and 🤫 some things are too beyond the idea of making sense..

Sounds killer! I almost always use a little distortion on my bass. Even my clean sound has about 6% distortion mixed in. You can only notice it when I play solo, but in a band setting you can't even hear it, just sounds a little fatter. Compression & Chorus with a little distortion are my favorite effects to get my primary tone.
