@jimf4748 - The BMW software has improved so much overtime but it tends to favour charging networks it partners with. With ABRP I have found that selecting just Tesla charging stations as the only network means I get the best rates and guaranteed service. Even ABRP has its issues but it’s miles better that the BMW satellite navigation system in my opinion. @jimf4748 The range at the moment is to say the least random, I recorded a video yesterday where I powered down the car for 15 minutes while I got a coffee. On my return I’d lost 1% battery and about 20 miles of range however, having got to my final destination and parked the car in a warm garage on my return my range had increased by 20 plus miles and I’d gained 2% in the battery ! All that aside it was a fun drive out. The Rex does dive that piece of mind when on longer journeys I must admit, I guess not having one now I have conditioned myself to how often I need to charge. I find longer journeys so much easier than I did 10 or 12 years ago. As always thanks for commenting. Rich

A terrific little car, we had one of the last one made, I was proud of driving it and found it a fun drive even after owning 3 and 5 series BMW ICE cars. I let some die hard petrolhead drive it too, they loved it ! We were having to make numerous long journeys and so bought a used Tesla Model 3 LR. Range is no longer an issue and overnight charging at home equates to less than 2 pence per mile, supercharging rarely needed but so convenient, however, that Penhale supercharger is rarely up to full 250kW output, perhaps just as well though because we just have time for a very quick shop in M&S food whilst charging. The Tesla is lightning quick but not quite as much fun as your i3.

Hi 3 adults in the car from Yeovil to reading in 1 to 2 c on thursday and a drop of to Heathrow yesterday fighting a strong headwind from storm Burt. The electrverse app from octopus will help you a lot and it also calculates for temperature and wind as well. Also another great tip is Tesla superchargers down load the app put a method of payment, arrive. at the supercharger plug in open the app enter the supercharger you are plugged up to and charging will start. The app will only show the chargers that are open to non Tesla cars as long as you don't have a Tesla car logged into the account. The Tesla chargers are a lot cheaper than others more reliable and there is always at least 8. The range at a steady 70 was maybe 120 from full however I think in 10c probably 140. after the last few trips the gym this morning stated 112, I'm sure when I start driving this will jump back hip to 140 I typed this into another chaps channel so just copied and pasted this for reference as to how well we got on

10 year I3 (6y i3, + 4y i3s) owner here, and it's not really the cold battery that is reducing the range, it is the cold outside temperature increasing aero losses (the air your car is pushing out the way is more dense) and your cabin heater is doing more work to keep the cabin warm as you drive! For an BEV, when you drive it, the battery warms up, so even if it starts cold (because it hasn't been preconditioned) the full capacity will eventually get released during the drive. This is because 1) the internal electrical resistance of the battery actually creates heat inside the battery as current is drawn from it and 2) EVs use the waste heat from their motors and inverters to warm the battery as you drive as well. This is also why you tend to find in some BEVS the initial GOM estimate is lower than what you actually get in reality. For the i3, which has a pretty good BMS calibration honestly i find the GOM within a few percent of the true range Although the i3 only charges as a maximum power of 50kW, in reality because it is rather efficient (typically 3.5 to 4.5 ml/kWh) that is actually a charging speed of about 200mph, so for most trips where you do need to charge away from home, you actually spend very little time doing it, and 15min or so whilst you grab a coffee or visit the toilet tends to be more than enough to get one home 🙂

They always lose, these vehicles, you did it here "the car wants to drive at 60 but I want 45" did you take a note of the traffic hold up you would have been on the twisties, evidently not a typical driver of a mach E and .... I am almost foaming at the mouth, these huge suv's their sheer size and mass are not for windy roads like these no matter how you cut it. Although perfectly legal I think it is sloppy: How many times do you cross the white lines because to keep to the lane is too difficult in this (and its type of) vehicle? It's a thing with me, there could be an oncoming vehicle, what do you do then? I think a bus would have been more fun on those roads than either that mach e or your driving it. Just having a friendly rib with you. 😁 Oh so what is it I drive and vlog especially this road as it is one of the best driving roads in the country (the twisties), which so attracts the attns of MAch E drivers? Hi Rich, you've got to do what works for you at the moment. There are only so many hours in a day and you have a life outwith KZbin. I, and I'm sure others, will still be here when you restart your more usual format.
