It's just such a pleasure to watch him play. Sure, there's drummers who can play as fast and technical, but few can put groove, freshness, and musicality into extreme metal like John.

This is like drugs, like watching the Olympics. And it's near incomprehensible that his mind is firing off the binary thing of 1's when hitting and 0's when he's not- like a rest. Not to mention it is distributed over 4 limbs in harmony. And choosing to go 16's or 8's or 12's by choice. Meaning there is still room for control. It is very very inspiring. As an average drummer I can and dare say; Read the Rhythm Knowledge book series from Mike Mangini, it is key.
