Did you ever encounter Anima??? She's an optional, completely missable monster that brings a more horror vibes into the game. AND if you complete all of her encounters, it ties up some loose ends from the first game! Personally I found her horrifying and very underrated (probably because quite a few players miss her on their first playthrough)

If it took you 7 hours to beat, then you must have rushed your way through it. The game is definitely more psych adventure than typical horror, with the jump scares being more concerned with resolving the tension than winding it up further. Also, how do you not know what Rainbow represented when both he and Desmond spell it out in the final level???
@HorrorReview15 күн бұрын
Honestly I don't really remember rushing through it at all, I remember doing certain parts of it over and over if anything. I started it late 2022 and didn't finish it until early 2024 cos of recording problems. My perception of the story was probably really messed up by then, but from my understanding "Agent Rainbow" was just a chemical messing with Desmond and meant something different to each character it interacted with?
@AndaraBledin14 күн бұрын
@@HorrorReview Agent Rainbow is the name of the chemical and the name the stalker takes, but they are not the same thing. [spoiler warning for people who haven't played and plan to] Agent Rainbow the stalker is a manifestation of Desmond's intrusive thoughts, insecurities, and imposter syndrome. During the final battle, Desmond comments on how AR is all of the things about himself that he tries to deny Among the various clues you won't notice on first playthrough is that Rainbow never gives himself a name until after Desmond learns that the chemical is called Agent Rainbow.

@@HorrorReview I Love Horror games/video games...I am what people in America call a Red Neck or Hill Billy, I'm from the 'South' (KY) and of course I love Guns (partially from being raised on a Tobacco farm, with woods for Hunting and being an ex-Soldier...especially my AR-15) but I also LOVE your Channel. I don't kiss rear ends...but YOU my man are my go-to guy for Horror video games. yes, I am a Generational X'er and I have played games since the very first gaming console...not Atari 1600 but the one which was basically Pong LOL. I have been a Subscriber for a while. I trust your scoring...especially using Harry. I wanted some help so I thought I would ask you a question/s. I play single player Only and Offline with different consoles. I use the PS4 and the 360 the most. I am new to the online only and/or digital only games. I want to PHYSICALLY Own my games. I used to play multiplayer with Halo, but just with 4 TV's and 4 people (land line party I guess). So, I notice there are a lot of games I can't get but do know some games pop up on 'Limite Run' discs and such. My favorite Horror games are: Silent Hill 2, Condemned 1/2, Evil Within 1/2, and the Metro series, I have always been bored with zombie games and never cared for the Resident Evil series except I might try #7. Do you have any recommendations for any Hidden Gems or any 'barely known' Horror games that are on disc form for the PS4 or 360? I hope to hear from you. Thanks...Ajax
@HorrorReview20 күн бұрын
@@ajaxslamgoody9736 That’s a tough one, I know that for the 360 you can get alien isolation, silent hill homecoming and downpour, condemned 1 and 2, metro 2033 and last light, deadly premonition, FEAR 1 and 2 and all the dead space games. Ps4 is a lot harder since there’s a lot more horror games on there, if you don’t mind waiting until next month I’m doing “the beginners guide part 2” which will be a video talking about some more obscure games, I’ll be mentioning what their like and what systems they were released for both physically and digitally if that helps!

no interest in playing it and I feel strongly it has no right to exist. From my point of view the only people who have a right to make a remake of a game is the original people who made the original game. Don't really understand how your score system works. 5 Harry Masons? does that mean you rate it as perfect? but at the end of the video after all this praise you give this game you say that you didn't enjoy playing it so how does that work.
@HorrorReview21 күн бұрын
It’s atmosphere is good, it has the potential to be scary, its sound design is good, it’s gore makes sense within the confines of the game and it’s story is good, but I just didn’t like it. Not because I think the original people should have remade it, but because I find the increased combat and artificial stretching of the game to be an absolute chore.
@basicloner21 күн бұрын
@@HorrorReview I think your scoring system needs a better explanation or needs to be expanded upon. Its really strange to me you spend almost the entirety of the video praising this game and then in the last 1 minute you turn around and say actually I didn't enjoy playing it. No matter how you frame it, a review is a opinion piece. Its just so bizarre to me the way you went about making this review.
@HorrorReview21 күн бұрын
In my opinion, despite the fact that I didn’t like the game, it is far from a bad game and achieves in all categories, just not as well as the original.
@HorrorReview21 күн бұрын
@@basicloner the purpose of all of these reviews is my opinion on the points themselves, whether I think the atmosphere is good, whether I think the game can be scary, if the sound design works well enough and all that. That’s the opinion, whether I like playing it or not doesn’t change how those things work.
@basicloner21 күн бұрын
@@HorrorReview You said you didn't enjoy playing it. This is a big deal for a video game. It might as well be a art piece or a movie. You also say you'll give your personal thoughts on the game eventually, I mean isn't a review your personal thoughts? very confusing to me.

This game is my favorite after Silent Hill 2. It tries to do its thing and it suceeds. It has an intriguing story and an interesting Silent Hill to explore with definitely a different vibe. But it's not a technically smooth game, it stutters frequently on original hardware, but I've heard it runs smooth through emulators and Xbox backwards compatibility. I think it inspired the remake of Silent Hill 2, with the added exploration of stores and locations in Silent Hill.

I actually found the fact I must make the choice of entering the otherworld much more frightening than when it is forced upon me - then I just have to roll with it, while in Origins I have to make the step into it myself, which is much harder. Just goes to show there are two sides of coin for everything. I found the game to be scarier than SH 2, despite holding 1 and 2 in a hundreds time higher regard than the Origins. The only problem I had was the fact you can pick up EVERYTHING which is so ridiculous it actually lessens the fear.
@ainolonia8138Ай бұрын
Such a shame you didn't enjoy the gameplay. I found it to be incredibly interesting to play. I also had no problem with the story. In fact I quite liked it. It's much more simple that the story of Silent Hill or Resident evil games. But to be fair, I didn't like this game at all when I first played it on PS2 back in the day. My appreciation grew only recently when I finished it for the first time in 2022. So, maybe give it another shot in 20 years : )

@ainolonia8138Ай бұрын
It's a risk/inventory management game. My first horror game and would remain THE favorite if not for Silent Hill. But this is still the number one game to depict a story in "the very moment the disaster strikes", something a lot of zombie stories don't so anymore, instead focusing on how humanity handles a post apocalypse.
