I don't understand what's so revolutionary about a city building the infrastructure and then developers building on their own sites. Why wouldn't that be the norm 🥴

how great for these folks there. My suburb of Portland whiffed big time on this type of opportunity about 10 years ago. Replaced big box stores and parking lots with newer big box stores and an even bigger parking lot. They have another opportunity across town where an old grocery store with a big parking lot has been vacant for years. Not holding my breath.

Bro just add more lanes and build more vertically, what could go wrong? Jokes aside, i firmly believe that many problems will naturally disappear if places like this start painting lanes as bus lanes, adding lots and lots of buses to accommodate all the useless movement generated by all the spread of space and slowly see how buses take traffic out so just close lane after lane until reaching 4 lanes: two-way bus and vehicle lanes. This will naturally reduce car demands and costs of maintenance of roads and also buses are very profitable, but there's still the problem of people not listening to that and thinking it's awful to take a bus. Anyway, just if you for any reason leave somewhere and want to move to the US, don't.

Hello! I love you're videos. the concepts and education surrounding this topic of roads is super intresting. I was wondering if there was a video introducing yourself and how you came to know so much and what your background is in this field. Keep up the amazing work!

Why is the US so bad at designing roads?? No offence. It is so dumb and dangerous.... and that cycle lane is farcicle. If you need a no entry sign that lights up depending on traffic lights, you've lost.

Why fix a bridge that starts in one shithole state and ends in another, no matter which direction you travel?

Yes! This video sums up everything that I see that my neighborhood should be like. I live off of one of those divided multilane roads that is super dangerous to walk, cycle, or even drive because it has U-turns in the middle to go the other direction that barely have any visibility. We have to drive on it to go to a store that's 1.5 miles away because walking is too dangerous. One day, I had to go to the store, but it was rush hour, which would have taken me forever to wait in traffic, so I decided to wait a couple hours until it was over. I really feel the way we build cities and the way the zoning codes and policies is why a lot of Americans feel so isolated. It's understandable. I hope that more people would understand this and advocate for change. Thanks for your video!

Holy shit. On that diverging diamond and parking lots, you can surely house 10000 people in single family single storey homes! What the fuck?!

That bridge needs to be redesigned to accommodate less cyclists and more automobiles that this, and several other developments have brought into Covington.

I've lived in this area my entire life... I've watched all the rampant over development first hand. This entire area disgusts me. I'm not saying it should've remained an empty field but to watch it turn into this monstrosity literally makes me want to vomit.

Most people live in suburbs because they have a family, they want a yard for their kids to play in. Since you are removing their yards, I would recommend adding parks everywhere, so they could just walk down the street to go to the park.

I dont like to build Subs in Cities Skylines 1 or 2. I like my medium and high dens. In C:S 2 you can finally build mixed zones. Shop at the bottom and living on top. I make more money that way, And also i dont need such a big space for the same ammount of people.

4:31 : It's not just the cascading back up here to here to here; a diverging diamond interchange has a two-step gridlock: if both directions are ever backed up the entire length, they will never move again.

Tbh, to fix things they should build a beltway around the town and ban transit from the middle of the city.

It'd be interesting to see a video on Ashley Phosphate Road, I-26, and US Route 52 interchange in North Charleston SC. The population boom has led to huge traffic problems and many, many accidents in the area.

Some people don't understand making walkable cities dosen;t get rid of your car it reduces the need. Making your life cheeper less pertoll and when you do drive weather its for fun or you need to you have less traffic pluss the amount of noise that would be taken away from cars and truck beeping at eachother. pluss walking is a way of keeping us humans fit. Tell me any problem with making suburbs and cities more walkable. i bet you can't
