The birds love these trees. And they have lovely flowers often confused with lilac bushes that attract many pollinators. Ironically the invasive starlings that have taken over Anchorage to the detriment of many native birds probably evolved to eat the berries from these trees. No one is doing anything about starlings. And vetch, that stuff is everywhere, inedible, chocking off the plants, why not kill that stuff? I know we have a huge invasive species problem that may very well be unsolvable but the focus on choke cherry trees while the ecosystem is ravaged seems short sighted? Aren’t dandelions invasive?
