Q13 is D, since it is the area below the x axis the integral can be just multiplied by -1. Your working out for f(2) - f(-1) is wrong because you have given the 2 an extra negative sign. You will get -1 -2, which is is -3, multiplied by -1 gives us 3 square units.

Random thoughts for part e, three points of intersection. Consider f(x) = e^(ax) Let f(p) = q and f(q) = p, 0 < p < q < 1 Solving for a in terms of p and q. a = (lnq - lnp)/(p - q) which is clearly negative but showing it is less than -e is beyond my Sunday night brain. Food for thought!

5:33 This is true for increasing functions but not necessarily for decreasing functions. For example: f(x) = (7 - x²)/3, x ≥ 0 intersects its inverse at three points, two of which do not lie on y = x. [(1, 2) and (2, 1)].

Without fractions. ax² + bx + c = 0, a ≠ 0 4a²x² + 4abx + 4ac = 0 (2ax + b)² = b² - 4ac 2ax + b = ±√(b² - 4ac) 2ax = -b ±√(b² - 4ac) x = -b ±√(b² - 4ac)/2a

For b don’t we include 0.64 and -0.64 since at -0.64 it is still less than 1.1?
@wyneducation6446
@wyneducation6446 2 ай бұрын
Hey, nah, at first look of this, when it says "less than" it means "strictly less than" which means it can't equal 1.1 so theta can't equal -0.64 or -0.64...so it has to be strictly between -0.64 and 0.64. AKA -0.64<x<0.64.

Should Q3 d i be $10? The y axis is probability and the x is cost isnt it? So the max cost (x-axis) is 10. idk if i interpreted it wrong

for q2e, I think its 21 no? 30/4pi/9 = 21.485 so test 21 and 22 21x 4pi/9 is 29.3 "" is 30.7 which is outside of the domain. so the 22nd time is not included.
@kuro6331
@kuro6331 3 ай бұрын
i dont think thats right, the 21.485 should mean that it goes back to point A 21 times. when you include the fact that it started at point A, that makes 22

Hey! I thought it was challenging. Like all Methods exams, the concepts are very similar but being able to do it effectively under timed conditions is another question. Also, so much depends of effective use of the CAS. There are a few questions I think I got wrong so I'll make some updates soon 😊

For Q2 (b), it should be a is not equal to either -2 or 1 because as long as the slope of line 1 and line 2 are different, they will intersect at a certain point.
