The last resting place for many beautiful roadworthy and running classics that got stripped for parts to be sold under the table and then scrapped..the list of rare and valuable cars that the scrappage scheme destroyed is unbelievable.

Re: The "Air shaft" at 1:50. How do you know this is an air shaft, and not just a building? It's way off the edge of the underground plan, so looks unlikely.

Thanks, I was wondering if they ever publish the time table for these lauches, I know its USUALLY 11 am and 11pm but depending on whats happening with the wearther they could be more in a day. Is this published anywhere? Thanks

It's not I'm afraid. Only the staff know this and it can change at any time since the unit is fully automatic you can have one launched in about 30mins

@@coolvideos8864 the chief forecaster can request one when ever they want if they need more detail about the atmosphere to help with forecasting. By default there is one a day (usually midnight) unless the weather is less stable and more are required. Most I've seen is 4 a day! The data from the sonde is used to plot a Tephigram (Thermodynamic diagram of the atmosphere which shows any temperature inversions etc). The Sonde is one of the most useful data collection tools in forecasting

Worked when the park was open from 1989-1994 at its best in Hudson Bay sweet shop next too the rapids. Great time & happy memories. Sad too see it gone n the site as it is now. With the right investment the american adventure could & should of been the best theme park in the UK.

The area in question was cleared of bombs by the MOD over a long period of time. The rest of the (undamaged) underground storage areas continued to be used for decades after the explosion. There are paths through the wooded areas open to the public, with only the immediate vicinity of the crater fenced off.

Now that's a very sweet sight. And the Nurburgring is further ahead in the distance. I doubt that the all of the motorsports legends seen this historic landmark and been there too. Tazio Nuvolari, Juan Manuel Fangio, Mike Hawthorn, Pete Collins, Alberto Ascari, Dan Gurney, Sterling Moss, Masten Gregory, Phil Hill, Jim Clark, Graham Hill, John Surtees, Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart, James Hunt, and Nikki Lauda all seen it and been there.

It's not just "further ahead" - the Nurburgring's full Nordschliefe surrounds the castle, weaving through the forested hills in the surrounding area.

I’ve lived around Ilkeston for most of my life. Wherever I’ve been, I’ve been able to see this but never been. I’ll get on my bike soon and have a gander. Good video.

Thanks. Ive fitted carpets to quite a few houses on that development now and know it has grown considerably in size. The highways agency have redesigned the bottom of Radbourne lane to Ashbourne Rd, there are traffic lights there now kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnyxhXZ_orWMla8m44s

Fantastic video! Where did you stumble across the photo for Entrance number 2? I've been doing my research and figured that's how people had been gaining access before ruining it and getting it filled!

Farmer John thanks glad you liked it. I took the pic myself 😉 I've done a lot of research into it all as I was fascinated, it's a shame not to be able to see inside it. that entrance is totally blocked now

It's a beautiful plot of land the endless possibilities you could do there I'd love to see an American style housing development, homes shops entertainment, boating on the lake in the summer camp sites.
