Let's be honest Louisville don't need an NFL team too many clothes by and we already had a NFL team and we don't need to be going backwards as well as a professional basketball team that cannot compete against the Louisville Cardinals basketball team as well as football team don't understand why Google does not have a MLB team the city is really starting to make me get upset and then the mayor has the audacity to propose low mid level buildings next to slugger Field instead of building a 40 story skyscrapev that would make the city more appealing

Don’t live here west to east end you’ll mind you’re business and trouble will still find you no matter what especially downtown better living in new Albany if you only like the city . Suburbs just as bad here they’re building a new va hospital and free housing so the west end thugs can run they’re rackets here better. Idk if it’s everywhere but Louisville loves to hide they’re violence people die get assaulted and the news don’t care . They’re also a big racial problem here unless you’re black you will fit right in ……………… Also don’t invest in a house anywhere here better off renting and if you like it for some reason then buy a home here but I’d advise to purchase in county’s nearby and travel into Louisville. Louisville is gang infested not a good city , the police are corrupt too … Just live here for a few months. Squatter issues as well I was gone for a month and someone squatted in my apartment neighbors didn’t care . Meth and Fentanyl are a huge issue here east end as well… there are cheaper and nicer city’s than Louisville … just watch news stories from the past 5 years of any city and remember they don’t even air half of the crime going on in that city .

I would just stay away from not only the west end, but downtown Louisville as well. This includes Old Louisville and Nulu. Both are crime ridden and packed with homeless addicts. It’s just not worth the car jackings and shootings. It is extremely common to experience both living in those areas. It’s not just the west end. I know from living there and friends living there. I would recommend the east end (st matthews, Middletown, Springhurst), the highlands/j-town for cheaper options, and maybe even rural areas like Simpsonsville, Shepherdsville, and La Grange if you’re able to deal with the slight commute difference. Much better than dealing with crime constantly downtown. The cheaper rent prices are not worth it. For younger college students, it’s just a 10-15 minute drive to these “culture hubs” from the east end and 20-25 from the more rural areas. Completely worth it.

WHEW! I finally escaped Louisville and moved to an adjacent county to avoid crime, heavy traffic & and back stabbing politics. Louisville has been ruled by left of left spend-spend liberal democrats for many decades, thus giving incompetence new meaning. The mayor is a joke helping to run it further into the ground surrounded by numerous controversies. It's a terrible place to raise children with a public school system that is embarrassingly out of control, students are graduated that can barely read & even infiltrated by young gang members. The police dept is in disarray, with shortages being a huge problem. Good competent dedicated officers can't do it all, but give it their best. Downtown is awful with parking being a nightmare. A friend reminded me constantly to think of the word GOLF, meaning Get Out of Louisville Fast. When I got the chance, thankfully I did.

Do you give info about apartment rentals? Who can I contact to point me in the right direction? I am moving to Louisville for a Job in November 2024. I'd like to live neighborhood with shops and restaurants within walking distance. A gay friendly local bar would be nice. I don't need amenities like a pool or workout room. I just want off street parking. Based on these things, Is it realistic to want to pay less than $900/mo.?

The traffic is unreasonable-Its shocking how poorly this city is laid out. Miss an exit on the freeway, you're driving to Missouri before you can get off and turn. The town is incredibly segregated and likes to pretend it isn't. There ain't $#!t to do unless you're a 30 something, hipster, millennial who hangs out in "NuLu" and and can afford to hang out at pretentious over-priced bars, restaurants, and coffee shops. There is nothing to do for the family if you have older kids-middle school age and older. There's nothing to do in this town if you're black-There I said it...If you ain't into hipster folk music and nobody rock bands, you ass out. If you're not into craft beer, bourbon, college, and even high school sports...You ass out. Big music acts pass over and just go to Cincinnati or Indianapolis (Even thought I don't care for pop music) That said no obscure or strong indie acts come here. As you can see-I really, really hate it here. I have life circumstances that keep me here but one day i'm gone and NEVER looking back.

I live in Louisville. The west end is not a good area to live at. Within the last couple years 2 of my younger cousins got murdered in the west end. One of my uncles got robbed and murdered just walking to the store. Another one of my family members got car jacked at the Kroger's on broadway around 7am in the morning and the robber shot him in the head. One of my cousins use to be the manager at the pizza hut that use to be on broadway years ago. He got robbed at gun point trying to close the restaurant. Stay away from the west end. Only go there if you have too. It doesn't matter if you just mind you business. Things can still happen to you. The west end is also a terrible place to raise kids. A lot of the young kids down there carry guns. They don't fight anymore. Your kids would be in danger. The best areas to live is 25 to 35 mins away from downtown. Jtown, Middletown, Shelbyville, Mt Washington.

@@bbet4363 I'm not saying that all of the west is bad. I'm saying that the west is not a good place to raise kids. And i don't recommend anyone moving to the west. There is a good reason why a lot of people are moving out of the west end. Most of my family members have moved out of the west end. The small percentage of the wild, crazy, and ghetto acting people down there is making the west a place that most people don't want to live at. They done closed down almost every single night club in the west end because of shootings. The Krogers down there is will soon be closed down because so many people are stealing from it. And that's where you want to live at???? Kids that go to my sons school that live in the west end have been caught with guns at school. They are afraid to walk the streets in the west end without guns. That is sad.

It is FAR from perfect, but when I lived there I always had a good paying job. However, a lot of rude people. I was assaulted by some lady who thought I was taking pictures of her when I was taking pictures of some thing else. She tried to snag my camera from me meanwhile, she was trying to beat the shit out of me on third Street. The streets are total trash, but I was impressed with the fact that I could text a location and a pothole would be filled but still. I saw some crazy stuff going on in the grocery stores. And there were a lot of people passed out from drugs, and I saw other people, hitting the crack pipe on church steps in Old Louisville. The city has a lot of potential, but there is nothing to help anybody and distress there. I think for me, everybody’s bourbon, dense, and their cars, how rude people are, and if you disagree with somebody, they will never talk to you again. In terms of buying a house, there’s no way I would buy a house there. I am low-key kind of thinking about moving there, but I keep seeing videos of people driving around and I’m like hard pass. I would rather pay an extra $500 and live someplace a little nicer.

High crime, extremely liberal democrat elected leaders, high drug issues, downtown is a nightmare's nighmare that residents totally despise because hospitals are crammed together, conjestion, parking is just as horrible + expensive & limited. Govt housing is being erected everywhere that invites numerous more troubles. Also, I know several elders that refuse medical treatment if told their appointments are downtown. Police are great, hut morale & shortage of officers are crucial. Louisville is so bad, liberal leaders tried to get a new V.A. Hospital downtown ignoring outrage from all Veterans. Thankfully, it finally failed. Oh, public schools are horrible. Bottom line, adjacent counties are considered great & much preferred as well as southern Indiana. Do your own objective research and be thorough.
