My dog does hit the pavement, 11 year old Doxie who has developed this recently, like she walks 4 to 8 miles a day. Are you just trimming the hair or the skin on the paw too.

My Mini Bull Terrier has been diagnosed with hyper keratosis, but it is not like a hairy paw. The pad has started growing an extension, like a hard horn. I have tried three different vets who have no advice to give except that they would not surgically remove it because he is 11.5 y/o and it is a very painful procedure that requires a long painful healing process. The extension just keeps growing though, and IT is painful for him to walk on. He gets Omega 3-6-9 and I have tried various creams - that seem to do nothing.

My 2 year old rescue husky has this and I really want to trim them. I’m a dog groomer so it’s not completely out of the ballpark but groomers are taught to NOT ever cut pads (obviously healthy ones) so I’m a bit nervous about it. He’s really hard to restrain and hates his feet being touched. I’m wondering if the reason he’s so bad with his feet being touched is because this is painful for him. I pride myself on being really good at grooming untrained horrible dogs but I can’t even do his sometimes.
