My school watches this for work, I genuinely think this is a good story.

This is one of my favorite poems. Watching Anne of Green Gables with Megan Follows introduced me to this. ❤❤

It could have been read with more rhythm than it was. I’m spoiled by the Matoaka Mountainbourn reading that was on SC since 2020. Good sound effects.

Decades ago there was a folk singer who made this.poem into a song. And a very beautiful song at that with these beautiful words.

Her transcendent experience sounds just like what is called by Zen Buddhists "satori" and what has been described by some who have been transformed by a similar-sounding experience when tripping on LSD. The cosmic connection, the oneness with everything.

To summarize the story. written by Ambrose Bierce about a man who rescues a snake and later regrets his decision when the snake betrays him. The story explores themes of trust, betrayal, and the consequences of our actions. It serves as a cautionary tale about the dangers of misplaced kindness and naiveté

I learned to read early, so my mother bought me the "Child Craft", books when I was five. This was my favorite poem, and 60 years later, it still has me in it's thrall.

I had to memorise The Highway Man in grade 6. I remember being moved by it, but I really had no idea. It seems so adult to teach an 11 year old... Well, I'll never forget it. This was a lovely recitation. Thx

I was just thinking the same. I had to read it in 7th grade, I believe, and it was one of my favorites. I was super moved by it before I was even old enough to truly understand it all. Definitely mature for a middle school read lol
