Wow, what a transformation.....nice job of preservation.....still needs to go to the next level, paint and some detailing under the hood ect. No need for total resto as it looks like a nice solid dentside. Nice the truck is going back home👍

Very cool clock you have! This transformer is self adjusting & goes to 9,000 volts. You probably don't need more than 4,000 volts, 6,000 volts at the most. If anyone is doing this a quick check with a neon shop & they can tell you what size to order by hooking it up to a meter. Remember this is high voltage & it will arc over to get you, you don't have to touch it. Remember this high voltage can kill you or catch fire if not handled correctly. These new adjustable electronic transformers are probably a good choice for this application if they last.

Nice truck.I miss my 77 F 150,highboy. I put a 1973 429 cu in motor out of a Merc Marquis. I put a new timing chain in it n umbrella valve stem seals on it.Made my own motormts. That truck got 11- 12 mpg n could put the speedo needle all the way around past 100 mph till it was up against the post behind 0. There wasn't a Chevy or Dodge ,gas or Diesel that could pass it going up hill !

This is the twin of the one I bought used in 1982, same color, 2+2 and 5 speed. I had a 260Z prior and the ZX was quite a step up, more comfy for sure. I wanted the 2+2 version so we could fold down one seat for our skiis and still carry three of us up the mountain. I recall that square dot-matrix display would show "OK" during startup but if you pushed the check button it would show 5 or 6 systems, for example wiper fluid or bulb working status. It was slightly high tech for it's day.

If I own another ford pickup it'll be one like this with a 4sp and a built 460 for working and low end torque my brother had one and when it was realy hard at work it seemed to run its best can't count the loads of scrap and fire wood it hauled all while pulling a trailer loaded down as well it wasn't a fancy truck but it definitely was a man's truck ment to out work the competition and did until the 90 model dodge 5pd 4x4

I had a brown one just like this for 14 years except mine was manual. Only probably was having to replace master cylinder from time to time. I learnt how to do it myself so it was not a big issue. I miss the car and would love to have one again. ENJOY

I like this truck. Reminds me of when dad had his 78-79 super cab f150. Same exact color scheme as this one except his had a dark blue roof, not light blue. His also had factory a/c and 2 tone door panels. Good memories with that truck!

That car probably came with an automatic transmission as every 2+2 I've ever seen did. Check the VIN code. The transmission change was probably to convert it to the five speed Manual. The dealership is the only place I'd trust to do that work.

In my previous comment, I mentioned the grille looks like a 68 grille. The other thing is this: the 69 camper specials have a marker light on the front fenders. The early 69s have the rear lower reflector prior to ones built on January 1 1969 and later. The 69s built on January 1 1969 and later have a marker lamp on the end of the spear instead of the lower rear reflector, to meet DOT 108 regulations requiring side lights and reflectors on new vehicles. 1968 models only required reflectors on the side unless they were 80 or more inches wide. Since this is a Washington State truck, it might be built at the San Jose California plant (code R in the VIN). The VIN will start out F25Y or F25H if it has a V8 360FE or 390FE. R will be code for San Jose California. The next code digit will be E or F if it's a 69. If it's a 68, the code will be C or D. My 68 F100 starts out F10YRD; F10= F100, Y=360FE V8, R= San Jose California factory, D= late 68 (build date was in July 1968 as stamped on the firewall).

The grille looks like a 68. The 69 grille has a groove on the center horizontal bar with a red stripe on it. I have an original 68 F100 that my late paternal uncle bought brand new in August 1968. It's a West Coast California truck with a date and shift ink stamp in the engine bay.

You don't hit the hood to open it you just gently lean down on it some while pulling the release. As long as you are not vertically challenged (short). I wish someone today made a truck as uncomplicated and tough as this truck is and it had an engine as good as the 12 valve cummins in it. I have owned and driven for years many Ford trucks from 79 back and only regret was the fuel mileage. This truck here will get about 8 mpg and less if you open the 4 barrels up on it.
