Always carry a proper care kit. Mine includes ulcer swab to clean wounds when required, propolis and orabase powder to seal body wounds. I believe there is now a 3 part kit you can get specifically for carp. Use on every capture and only keep the fish out of the water long enough to weigh and photograph

Speaking about the cheap bastard that I am, when I bought the Ultegra's XTD were 120E/piece....and that was 10 years ago..... They are still as brand new with 1 out of 4 having only a little scratch on 1 spool.... Spod still spods at 200meters and catches catfish the size of small cars. Carbon washers were 3E per set, now if you want to replace the washers are 7E per set...... I have 2 Aero Technium MSG.....but I always take those 4 XTD, because I do not need more..... I've seen Daiwa crack apart in time, but I doubt that those are because of Daiwa, and more about abuse of the owner......but god damn, my Ultegras are 10 years and don't show it (I use them for feeder fishing, carp fishing, casting, they are my go to reel at a cheap price) ..... Emblems are great, but at a greater price, and need like you said an upgrade for the drag (but I;ve upgraded my ultegras to carbon to, so it's a tie)..... but a bit more expensive for fairly the same things..... And at this point in time paying 300E for a reel, XR's have exploded in price, or a sweet Daiwa Emblem, they kinda seem bonker for thinking I'll bin 4 reels that have stood the test of time and have enough memories to write books about them.....

My top tip for carp care is i always always carry propolis mouth and body treatment for every session throughout the year i use bottles of the stuff as carp anglers we owe it to the carp and ourselves to protect the carp for the future,great video carper gear great value for money.👍 products.

Great review mate. Helped me make a decision and I'm going for the fox because of the extra lid storage and the fact it allows the different size containers to fit more easily. Aside from that also think I will go for the Fox rig boxes again flexibility with interchangeable lids will allow me to streamline depending on where I'm going.

Unhook the fish in the net and take net off handle before lifting out,easier to lift a net without a handle. And loosen line,seen so many people lift their rod/net & pull the hook out as they do...Can you recommend a decent winter suit? Been looking at Trakker cr3 & dam xtherm due to 8000mm rating but mixed reviews online.
@CaravanCarpersАй бұрын
Hiya pal! Luke has the older tracker 3 piece suit, he likes it but it’s bulky. I use an Aqua f12 torrent coat and pants but have a heated gillet underneath. Really warm and you can wear a T-shirt and this in ure bed chair. If you come out for a fish in the night you can then just click the heat higher on the vest and it keeps you toasty warm till you get more layers on. Much less bulkier.

Hi all, not sure if top tip but I've learnt this the hard way. Agree with net and mat ready to go BEFORE your rods go out AND ENSURE you mat is on level ground, had a nice fish slipping away at 2 in the morning which is not fun. Hope that helps someone 🎣🐟

My carp care tip... I ran out of carp care spray. Couldnt get any from my local tackle shop. Was advised that Betadine Green antiseptic spray is as good as anything that is on the carper market. Its waterproof and an acceptable antiseptic on my local carp fishery.

My carp care tip is to get your landing net and cradle/unhooking mat out and ready before you even think of getting your rods out. Far too often do people leave this until after a rod is in the water by which time (if your lucky) it could be too late!
@CaravanCarpers2 ай бұрын
I said in a earlier post this caught me out when I first started carp fishing. I flicked one in the edge and put the rod down to set the net up next time and before i got the rod down it ripped off instantly 40 secs later. Luckly the stink bag was next to me. You only do it once 😂😂😂

my tip doesn't save money but does save some heart ache. Don't be tight and change your hook links and main line as soon as they start to look worn. The fish I've lost due to a hook link or main line letting me down is unbelievable, all that time on the bank and then not landing a fish because I'm too tight to spend a few pounds keeping my kit in good condition

My carp care tips would be to say it starts with playing the fish. Don’t bully it into the net, play it, tire it out and the fish will have less energy to flap about on the bank and hurt its self. Have a bucket of water ready next to your unhooking mat/cradle, but make sure the water hasn’t been sat in the sun and got warm. Wet your unhooking mat/cradle before putting the fish on it as they can get really hot sat in the sun. Make sure you are prepared! Get your net and mat/cradle set up BEFORE you cast your rods out. You might get a fast take and have nothing ready to deal with the fish. Have a carp care kit with you AND use it. I would use the Gardner intensive carp care kit And lastly, don’t mess about with the fish after netting it. Get it out, photos, weighed and back in the water as quickly as possible.
