Can pin size be changed with these types of setters? Like if you wanted to swap to duck pin or candle pin could the machine accommodate it?

To all the snotty, negative commenters, I have to say... YOU HAVE CLEARLY NEVER PURCHASED A PINSETTER! Or maintained one. And are possibly deaf. This machine definitely has it's place.
@PinoyBowlerGS92

Oh yeah it has its place alright ! Place in the dump ! These things are garbage with inaccurate pin action, tangled pins and if you have kids at the age of 3 or 5 something like that, don't let them play Bowling on StringPins because they would roll their balls so slow that the balls would just sit on the pindeck and don't even throw another one yourself to knock it off the pindeck, otherwise you'll risk of tangled pins. I'm not a mechanic but I've experienced clearing AMF pin jams at my local Bowling Center and I was enjoyed by that, better than sleeping behind a bunch of StringPin. If I want a pinsetter, give me the GS-NXT cause that's authentic pin action I'll get and it gives more jobs for the people in my country (Philippines) where poverty and unemployment exists. If you give me a StringPin, I'll hire only 1 person NOT WORTH IT let alone with crappy pin action.

Somewhat unrelated question... What's so different about the GSX pit? On the GS2/10/92, you couldn't bounce a pin out with dynamite. But pins bounce out like crazy all the time on GSX. (from a curious 22-year former 82-70 mechanic...)

Question. I heard string pinsetters are becoming more popular around the US. However, Brunswick and AMF have no plans to discontinue their freefall pinsetters right? I know some people strongly disapprove of string pinsetters, though for lower-budget bowling alleys they are a great cheaper alternative. Are bowling alleys that are part of chains like KingPins and BigAls keeping free falls? Which ones are buying the strings?
@PinoyBowlerGS92
@PinoyBowlerGS92 Жыл бұрын
Brunswick isn't gonna discontinue them, neither does Qubicaamf because there are many Free Fall Pinsetters still actively in use especially the GSX is still selling. Plus both companies just recently released the GS-NXT and EDGE Free Fall so there's no point of discontinuing them. The centers that are going for Strings are those Entertainment Centers, Bars or Arcade while Free Falls are meant for Bowling Centers that wants Competition like Leagues and Big Tournaments.

Question. I've noticed this on all GSX pinsetters, but it follows an unusual pattern of loading the 7 and 10 pins first before adding the rest of the pins to the setting table. Why is that? 0:32
@gs-xtraordinary3538
@gs-xtraordinary3538 2 жыл бұрын
We preload the 7 and 10 because they are the last to receive pins in the loading process. Because they are the last to load, we take try to take advantage of any extra pins that might come by and actually load them early. That way we can grab the 7 and 10 for the next first ball. We don't load the other 8 until the end of the detection stroke, to prevent the table from lifting an extra 30 lbs of pins.

The resistance is psychological. In our subconscious mind when we strike an obstacle (in this case bowling pins) and it falls over our minds say we 'defeated' or overcame that obstacle. But when we knock over the pins with strings we still know that while the pin might have been 'defeated ' the strings are still very much intact. If the strings themselves also became detached from the pinsetter machine when we strike a pin it would be easier to accept this new technology.
@gs-xtraordinary3538
@gs-xtraordinary3538 2 жыл бұрын
But the whole purpose of the string is to prevent the pins from being free roaming. GSX would be the Pinsetter without strings.

Message to Brunswick (AMF and Murrey can listen in too) - So guys, if the concern is for the cost of new machines in centers that allegedly cannot afford the standard free-fall machines, why not put your money, time and efforts towards coming up with an efficient, safe and affordable machine instead of suckering people into thinking this 'garbage compactor' as the way to go??? .... String-pin bowling is TRASH and a FRAUD to the game of REAL BOWLING!!

Still a poor answer for the main problem in bowling pinsetters -- namely placing the pins EXACTLY where they were before the downed pins are swept clear. Sometimes, pins don't fall over but are scooted a bit off of their mark. These auto-pinsetters always put them back to their original position, rather than returning them to the position they were picked up from.

@@keithchrysler3732 Then this machine is worthless, no out of range, no messengers and more of the silly pin action like the 10 pin gets tipped over by the string of the 6 pin. @@Pfd51ff I wouldn't bowl on this pinsetter at all even if its only practice. I'm a Pinsetter enthusiast this thing takes away the fun of watching pins flying around and also watching a traditional pinsetter running like I love watching the sweep coming down then the table came down picking the pins up and the sweep pushes the knocked down pins and places the remaining pins back on the deck.

@@keithchrysler3732 Let's be real, Pinboys can do the same thing as Strings of having less maintainance work while retaining the Free Fall Pin Action. So if I want less maintainance then I would rather hire anyone setting pins by hand than buying this junk of machine that doesn't let pins fly like birds but hang them as if they're suicide. Even that one AMF Bowling center in Ethiopia scrapped their 82-30's for Pinboys which is the best thing they did instead of closing that place down.

I wish these crappy pinsetters won't make it worldwide. I don't care if they're already installed in America and Europe but as long as not here in Southeast Asia cause many Bowling centers that had AMF's or Brunswick GS had no trouble with maintainance costs. Especially here in the Philippines that majority of Bowling centers here are standard (meaning they don't go overboard of making the bowling center look cosmetic, all they want is the gameplay of Bowling to earn money) so don't talk to me about Bowling as Open play is the trend now cause League Bowling is still strong here and it made more money than slow open play, League is pretty much the #1Priority a Filipino Bowling center should value the service to. Only problem with Bowling in the Philippines is that the rest of the country had limited bowling centers outside the capital of Manila, mainly people can't afford of making one and also no big corporations were interested.

Compared to the old A2 pinsetters ( I used to be an A2 mechanic) these GSX pinsetters look alien. They are cool looking machines though. I would love to see one!! The thing that got me the most though is that amazing pin conveyor system. No pin wheel, no ball wheel etc. Just so cool. I shouldn't say it looks alien.. It just looks foreign to me. I wonder why Brunswick never added a Set Button to their Ball Return, you know that Button that recovers 2nd Ball Pin Combinations. Yes there’s a Reset button but it only cycles the pinsetter to the next ball, it doesn’t help incase pins are missing or fell on 2nd Ball before a Ball has thrown. I’m so glad my past Local Center had these rare GS Exclusive Brunswick 2000 Ball Returns (with Set Button, Cancel Button and Pin Indication Buttons) connected to their GS-92’s and I love GS had the best convenience for League Bowlers myself of having the Set Button on their Ball Return.
