“Pilgrims want to visit the strange lands of remote saints.” The speaker explained that in the spring the pilgrims want to go on pilgrimages. They are seeking the landmarks of famous saints they’ve heard about. The spring is the perfect time to do so. This is how “The Canterbury Tales” begins. As they travel, they start telling each other stories to pass the time. The stories they tell during their travels is what makes up the various plots explored in TCT.
