Sony isnt getting braw. Black magic is allowing compatibility with its monitor recorder Allowing braw with a sony camera.

You can always put more contrast in a flatter image. You can pull down shadows and match them exactly. But with the c70 you have more dr.

braw is easy to work with. i m curious how braw being 12 bit is vs the 16bit out of atomos and the current 10bit straight out of camera in post. for eg if i wanna shoot a film like “the creator”with all the other variables “lens…etc” being the same is braw enough.

It’s 12 bit log, when you open it in DR it shows 16 bit linear. Not sure what the atomos records ?

But ProRes Raw doesn’t work in Resolve natively so how are you able to open it up and see 16 bit without converting it?

@@JamesJacksonFilmz well that is my question about the Atomos. Is the Atomos recording ProRes raw ? I really don’t know. What I mentioned was about braw which is 12 bit log and shows as 16 bit linear in Resolve. Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough before

Who cares 😮💨 just get a Lumix S5IIX. Lumix has Sony and Canon shaking in their boots cause they know the S1H II is going to be a game changer. Sony shooters should've been had BRAW.

@@JamesJacksonFilmz That’s good for FX3 owners. Considering that the FX30 can output 16-bit RAW to a Ninja monitor, you’d think it could handle BRAW. If not internally, than surely over HDMI. With the S5ii, I can connect to a Blackmagic 12G monitor and record BRAW to an SSD connected to the BM monitor. Right now I can get the S5ii for $1,400.

Only FX6 and FX9 so far. It would be great if my FX30 can shoot BRAW. If it can't, I'll be moving over to LUMIX.

@@georgetsikos in the section I showed he stated that they are looking to add it to all the FX professional level cinema cameras. While he only said the FX3 I’m assume he’s including the FX30 as well. Otherwise it wouldn’t make since.

It'd be cool if it was boxy. Have Panny lean into a "cinema" camera body instead of a videocentric hybrid. Then, give photo bodies to the S2 ,S2R. I feel like it definitely needs a screen, though, not be like the bs1h.

The told you in one of your older videos that on Black Magic Pocket cameras have more highlight retention at ISO 1000, now this video you’re saying ISO 800 is the Native ISO😂 Come on man😆

@@MrJayclas different cameras different sensor. iSO 1000 is completely useless in the pocket lines IMO while 800 is definitely useable in them. But here with the full frame It’s clear just from my own experience with the camera it’s the better performing ISO. I go by my own experience it just what’s on paper. So I don’t know what exactly are you getting at as my comments have been consistent.

@@JamesJacksonFilmz I have both the Pocket 4k and Cinema 6k and the main difference is the Cinema 6k gets noisy after ISO 1250. The Pocket 4k is actually better in low light but their dynamic range is really similar especially ISO 1250 and lower.

Urgent Warning to Sony FX3 Users! Sony has released the disastrous firmware version 6.0, which completely disabled my camera after updating from version 3.0 following their official instructions. Shortly after the update, my camera started making strange noises, the shutter seemed stuck, and the screen kept flashing "ISO AUTO." Since then, the camera has been totally unusable! This is unacceptable negligence on Sony’s part! They have released an update that has caused severe damage to customers’ cameras and have done nothing to fix it-no recall, no immediate solution! This is a professional camera, often used as a primary camera by videographers, and its malfunction is causing immense financial damage to professionals relying on it for their daily work! I urge all those affected by this update to join the call for Sony to take responsibility and issue a recall for all damaged cameras. Sony must provide a fix or replacement at their own expense! Sony, if you don’t resolve this issue, you risk losing the trust of your loyal customer base!

how variable is it on the fx3? For example 178 possible? Had some annoying unsolvable issues with flickering LEDs in the past at 1/50. (Didn‘t flicker on many other cameras i tried. Only on the fx30 but it has vari-shutter - that solved it)

They suspended it this morning and for good reason. After using the camera a bit since I updated the first day, I noticed I can't Autofocus with my adapted glass when recording. Never had an issue before today.

Some people were not able to re-connect to their camera after the update on their Macs. Also I saw on the Sony forums somebody with the FX30 can no longer use the DCI 4K on his v90 cards. I think I will for sure wait a while even when the bring it back up. Might be delayed months though, who knows.

Can anyone confirm it is using true 1/48th and 1/120th as the actually shutter speed. I just got an FX30 and also wondering a couple of things. We can only use 1/48th shutter in 4DCI? is that correct? Also I do not want to fiddle with CINE EI at the moment bc I have several jobs coming up but have set my PP11 to be Slog3 and Slog3cine correct? I have seen some comments that Slog3 can only be used in CINE EI? A little confused. I would rather manually set all my ISO and Slog settings for my jobs coming up rather than fiddling with CINE EI... Thanks if anybody has any remarks for my doubts..

@@ekphotography it is absolutely not true. You can use Slog3 or any Log profile outside of Cine EI. It is true however you cannot use any other profile except a Log/HDR Profile with Cine EI turned on.

Shutter angle only makes sense if you use nd filters as well. I dont use nds for most of what i do as i dont mind higher shutter speeds. If i use shutter angle it only means that footage is badly overexposed. So I never use shutter angle.

I can’t seem to get the promised and listed usb c tethering to iPhone for M&C app to work. I use my iPhone as an external monitor. Would be great to be able to use it with a cable instead of WiFi. You got this work?

Hmm so b4 I said the pyxis delay may be they adding a flip out screen... Na... just a separate screen altogether... Guess it will be here in time for Q4.... in other words, by spring 2025. I ain't fallen for the pyxis in the tail pipe gag again. Interesting tho... no pre-orders are being taken... I'll have to enlist my neice to wear a monitor costume at cinegear atl... and we shall both hide at the nearest QuickTrip closest to the studio.
