1986, I was on the way to the 110th anniversary re-ride of the Little Big Horn. We cavalry reenactors had just ridden from Fort Robinson to Palmer Gulch near Hill City. We loaded up the horse for the remaining road trip to Montana, but we stopped briefly in Deadwood. Deadwood was dead in those pre-gambling days! In period clothing we walked up to Wild Bills grave. On the way back to the parking lot, I was mysteriously drawn to a grave marker to my left. As if a voice was calling to me, "Hey, trooper come here." I walked the twenty-five yards. Before me was the grave of William Dunn a Civil War Veteran of my own re-enactment unit. Co. C, 7th IL Cav. Decades later, on a return trip, I poured Trooper Dunn a beer in my old tin cup and left some tobacco and my old pipe that I had used for years. I then told this story to the tour group I had led there.

Dont know how the long the building has been abandon for but i actually got inside one time. It was back in 2013. I remeber ther actually being a small bowling alley in there which makes sense because it was a rehab center.

Hi Ben, When did you visit? We are planning to visit lake louise on 27th May, is the lake still frozen?
@benstours2 жыл бұрын
I've been twice, both in summer. I'm certainly not an expert, but from what I've learned, the lake doesn't fully melt until late May or early June. I've also read that the lake isn't that same powdery blue at first melt. But like I said, I'm no expert, and I can't imagine it ever being anything but a beautiful spot.

Jack Kerouac did not write On the Road there. But he did have sex with Gore Vidal there. Not that there is anything wrong with that. And some of the people you list as having lived there only spent a few nights. There is a big difference between staying the night and living there. So half of the people you list as having lived there did not. And you don’t mention a lot of famous people who actually did-Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer after he lost his security clearance, Clifford Irving after he was caught faking the Howard Hughes autobiography, Milos Forman, the director of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Amadeus,” Cristo, that artist that wrapped things in fabric... Don’t trust everything you read on the internet and then just read it off for your videos.

So who was #1?
@benstours3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay, but for me #1 is Fenway Park in Boston. The concourses are dark and crowded, and the seating cramped and uncomfortable, but it's just such a unique and quirky place I'm willing to give up some convenience and comfort in exchange for the privilege of looking out at the Green Monster and the views of downtown Boston beyond right field. I also happen to have a soft spot for those Fenway Franks...
