This is good , my partner is an amhp and deals with these situations and people who experience mental health crisis . It's very difficult and can b traumatic but he is always very kind and professional . Sometimes his role is misunderstood and sometimes people who are unwell have little insight n therefore vent their believed injustice at him . Plus the poor staffin record keeping n responsibility n stress , it's a helluva job . I'm glad you had ( with hindsight ) a positive intervention . We need to check our mental health as we view checking physical health ? Y is it different ? It's not ! I'm anorexic n I don't believe anybody but a patient , skilled person could live with me . Most people too ignorant . You seem like a good guy , keep an eye on yourself as you would others ! X 🤣

Thanks for sharing this. I’m really close to the end now of trying to live in this world. Listening to you helped to understand being sectioned but I’m not certain at this stage if I’ll make a choice to be sectioned, if I can at last avoid it.

How are you doing now?
@sgr_sgr5 ай бұрын
@@justmadeit2 A couple of weeks ago I lied down in the road in the middle of a busy junction of town centre traffic next to where I live. I was carrying two 15cm knives & held one in each hand to my throat. I was just about to slash my throat & neck when I heard a woman’s voice. She gently said, “Don’t do that. Three weeks ago I was where you are now. I drove my car into an oak tree because my husband left me for another woman after 23 years of marriage. I got sectioned. You just need help. I’m going to sit here next to you until the police & ambulance arrive.” She gradually talked me down until the emergency services arrived. I got arrested for possession of bladed articles in a public place. I pled guilty at the magistrate’s court the next day & got sentenced to 6 months of probation. Probation’s agreed to help me to move from my current housing association property next to the road junction. I’m diagnosed with ME/CFS which causes sensory overload (hypersensitivity to light & sound) & Hyperacusis (noise sensitivity - noise can cause me physical pain). The two sensory conditions together with M.E turned my living environment into a sensory torture chamber. I couldn’t take it anymore. I’d already appealed twice to my housing association to move on health grounds. Declined both times. Turns out a panel of three housing association staff made those decisions & yet none of them were medically qualified to assess the impact of my noisy living environment on my disabilities & sensory medical conditions. I’d already tried to kill myself about a month beforehand. It was a week day. I was on the top floor of a multi storey car park & about to jump when I heard a man’s voice, “Don’t do that mate. I realise you’re probably going through a tough time at the moment. Let’s talk.”He gradually talked me down & we went for a coffee. I’d taken an overdose in case I didn’t have the courage to jump so I had to go to hospital but fortunately they were able to treat me & I hadn’t taken enough sedatives to cause any serious harm. These experiences have helped me rediscover my Christian faith & with help from the local community health team & Probation Service I’m gradually regaining my self confidence & slowly getting back on track, one day at a time. Thanks very much for asking how I’m doing, that means a lot. I’m very socially isolated & currently going through a English bank holiday weekend stuck at home in my own company but feeling a lot more relaxed & at ease so I’m beginning to cope & hope when my health improves I can work on increasing my social network.

Do you think about how your actions affect others ? Are you coming from a place of ego …. To truly grow as a person start with being honest about the person you see in the mirror… what you put out will come back to you ten fold ….

I think it's really brave of you to write about your recent experience with mental health and post it online. I think you show good insight about your main trigger being alcohol. You recently posted that you have slipped back in to old way's. Have you sought any support for your alcohol addiction? We are with you, AA to name two there are also some really good sobriety groups available too. Just a thought.

It can create depression for people comparing their life to others
@ShamelessMentalHealth2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree Simon, one of the biggest lessons In my life was learning to accept others for who they are and being able to appreciate that the person stood in front of me may think and may have beliefs that are the polar opposite of mine, and that’s fine. Modern society seems to impose this kind of pressure on the vulnerable to have to compare themselves to another and that’s not ok. We are all entitled to have the freedom to feel and believe in what makes us happy. Also one mans coping strategy that work for him may not work for another. Being considerate and open minded is important. Hope you good and thank you for Subscribing to my Channel. Please keep in touch..
