No, the only thing you need wifi for is to see a baseman on the mapping feature. Everything thing else will work offline. In this video I am using a cell phone that is not connected to any cell network.

You can only view the LiveScope visible on the networked screen with this setup (the 93 UHD2). I was using my iPad specifically for connecting to my networked units to view mapping only through the ActiveCaptain app. Now, if you are using a Garmin ULTRA 2 unit (either the the 10" or 12" unit) you could view your screen (potentially with LiveScope on it) using the Helm feature on the ActiveCaptain app. You can also screen record this way. Let me know if that makes sense or not.

@@claytonmoyer2712 Yes they do. It has more to do with the app than the GPS or Non-GPS unit. The Striker Cast app is what allows you to switch between flasher settings and 2d settings. Had one and for a battery 4 times the price of an Amazon battery if failed in less than 4 years and they wanted me to send it back ! They know it's considered hazardous and not cheap to ship so I went with a Amazon battery 1/4 the price !

How is it a year later? I am looking to slowly start building up my ice fishing set up but not the big stuff like house, auger, flasher. This would really help with the entry point if it still is worth it.

@@natebohach1 I would say still worth it. Especially the non-gps version (the white one) which is at a lower price point. Your biggest limitation would be phone battery life. If you can’t find a way to mount your phone and keep it charged, you are golden!
