New to picking but I just bought a sparrow classic set and covert instruments echelon set & FNG. Any tips you can recommend?

@Xavier818sfv thanks for watching, sounds like you are of to a great start, the first thing I do is to try to learn the lock by just putting a pick in without a tensioner in order to try to feel what's going on inside

For those who want to jump to the instructions head to kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5WpoGyIr7GrodEsi=jnTEBipPqqF5kHwb&t=304. That intro is loooonnnng. And! thanks so much. Brute force is the way to go. The other methods I've seen for finding that 2nd number (which seems to require exactly the right amount of shackle tension - not too much or too little) are frustrating.

It might be more helpful to include instructions..what depth do you put the pry bar in? How would you define light/heavy tension? Telling us to put tension and then pick the lock isn't helpful at all unfortunately

I thought that medium is a gem. Also that half diamond is like a quater diamond(extremely good for like Euro paracentric keyways). Really liked how the plastic lock had spools. Enjoyed the demonstrations of picks. Really liked how ya edited this video👏👏👏🔥🤘😎‼️ Come out fantastic! Definitely a set worth trying out. Profiles look great. Love a pancake handled pick! Nice and easy does it. "By jove he's got it"! I'm unsure as to how that small "S" piece makes it key retaining though. 😉👍
@StevesLockPicking
@StevesLockPicking 2 ай бұрын
@roysammons2445 thanks Roy, it was definitely easier then I originally thought, GKeyman just commented that the s piece is the z-bar and is easier to put it on the tail piece then slide the core into the lock and that would make it key retaining, very fun to learn from others
@gkeyman565
@gkeyman565 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the mention, might be a #4 for the tip, depends on the lock, might be thinking American. Have a great day, Great job on the upgrade, actually easier to put the Z bar on the tailpiece and insert the core up into the lock., dot visible retaining,.

@1shagg420 thanks for watching, great job in getting through the masters, with the 1100's some people like them and others hate them, I like them and I do have a video on them, they take very feather light tension and it has very slight clicks then do the turn test often and you'll get it, keep up the great work

Correction, the dovetail slot above the 6th position is to load the 6th top pin and spring, and cap it off with a small brass plate that slides in from the side, and is held in by the spring tension. The little plate and driver pin and spring usually come with a new lock. have a great day, Still a great demo video
