Why would piano tuners walk away from this? Is there some sort of piano tuner inside joke going on here that I don't get? Nice piece though, and you played it great!
@willperkins22
@willperkins22 14 күн бұрын
There's isn't a joke, per se. It's just a super quirky self-published piece of ragtime from two piano tuners in Indianapolis 1915. The original cover had this macabre hand-drawn picture of an upright piano with legs running away from a piano tuner. The composers (Wilson & Rabe) also say in the sheet music that they are the "foremost piano tuners in the country." We're left to wonder who the heck these guys were, but one thing we do know is that they created this! I edited the music a bit, but the A theme is actually 18 bars instead of 16, and overall, it's just an odd piece.

Acoustics are very good in that garage! In fact, this might be one of your best sounding recordings made with a phone, a lot of the others lack clarity because of the inherent characteristics of phone mics in general.

It's not a player piano anymore? :( I love Gulbransens. They're wonderful pianos and the players were exceptionally tight with the glue together design (which of course makes restoration a pain in the ass but it's worth it in the end).

Hello, Will. I am Donald Ashwander’s niece and I also recorded with Donald on his album Particular People and a solo album of mine. You did a beautiful job on this charming piece and I know Donald would be thrilled that you do it. Please note that this and many other pieces have been uploaded to Sheet Music Plus now, scanned from Donald’s own manuscripts of the compositions. Thank you again for performing and uploading this. Best to you, Sharon Moore.

Hello Will, one of your overseas fan, that is myself! Is absolutely delighted with your interprétation of the great, late Eubie Blake... Thank you so much, great Job.... l happenned to see a video from the 1972 Jazz Festival in Berlin, Germany, where Eubie Blake was so proud to explain to the hudge public, how he himself wrote that piece in 1899, and he performed it, with so much wit, and joy in his 89th year... I must say, he didn't play any faster than what you did Will, this so close from the composer's version!!! Congratulations👏👏👏☺️💐
