Don't you think there is compliance with your students? Could you do it in the street with people who don't know who you are and what you do? Unfortunately i doubt it... Rooting and energy transfer is a real thing but this, is not real.

Gut, gut. (Herz 1, Milz 20 - Leber 14 gleichz. Dickdarm 10 - Magen 9 gleichz. usw)

I was taught these hand pressure point 50 years ago. Studying Poekalan Tjimdei. And was happy to see that the hand loosening exercise we do in Aikido are the exact same hand technique to use when throwing or controlling. I do the hand stretching exercises every day. I play guitar and train with weapons. Very critical for strong flexible wrist, hand and fingers.

I sincerely thank you very much, showing an important part of Aikido: Atemi Waza. Nage, Katame and Atemi Waza are three branches of the same tree. Some times I see Karatedo Atemi Waza applied to Aikido and that's a misunderstood way of practicing the real Aikido Atemi. Every Budo has its own techniques curriculum, such as Judo, Karatedo, Aikido, Kempo and Jujutsu. Best wishes and blessings from Spain.

Far from reality and use in the real world. Far from original use and purpose. The essence of a true Martial Art in "MARTIAL" Defense, combat. Uke in Aikido is WAY to compliant, You will get destroyed in the real world.

Atemi is the Thunder and Lightning of Aikido. Without it in a real world physically violent encounter good luck trying to apply any of the arts technical side.

It's my understanding that proactive action should be practiced at higher levels, it's still Aikido but just more advanced strategically. A way for you to control a situation by setting up you opponents, a little like you do in kaeshi waza, where you initiate an attack to get to apply your technique. Law enforcement can't use these setups unfortunately, because it looks like police brutality to people who are not in the know of martial techniques. Atemi is a big part of this approach. FWIW
