You’d be surprised the things musicians play during this time and you wouldn’t know it

@@AlfredJrMusic I am a musician. I know the things we play, and for that reason I can tell you this is even more distracting to me. But I love it! I enjoyed your performance every bit of it!

The Piano sounds fantastic, Alfred, I wonder how the Rhodes piano and Hammond organ sounds? Maybe you could do a demo on those two.

How about an E diminished chord over Ab. The whole chord comes from the E whole-half diminished scale, except the Ab which is your bass note.

I wish he would stop singing. One of my favorite pianist which is truly his gift...not singing

That E chord could be seen as a edim chord. Which over Eb becomes Eb713b9#11 to Ab major (4) Then 3625 back home.

It's a Barry Harris substitution. A borrowing of Edim notes in a Ab major chord

I thought the same thing. Diminished chord over Ab, with the c on top as the melody. Now as for that whole tone chord…

Are the keys like a real piano feel? Or like a synth? I have a Casio that has a real piano feel.
@AlfredJrMusic9 ай бұрын
It’s more like a mix between a synth and a regular keyboard. It has velocity touch keys, they’re not weighted like a grand.

This is beautiful but boss please take your time in teaching others what you know. It could have been better calling out the notes and chords for each progression

I think the reason why your example was too annoying to deal with was that they deliberately had a melody that was just steps up until they resolved it later, while yours had a step immediately with the F to A if you wanted those to be the roots of a major triad you'd have to have some you'd have to have a leap of a third or some funky descending melody. Actually, thinking more on it I don't think you could get away without the leaps if you wanted to maintain the melody as the root of the triads. It'd still be neat to see what you could make of that while still maintaining those as roots, but it'd probably end up being fairly different from the Basie example. TLDR; Basie work cause stepwise movement the leaps seemed to only be effective in a resolution? Honestly, take with a grain of salt I don't know shit. :D cool video tho

Definitely a fair point with my improv melody. Would definitely be interesting to continue that using major triad inversions tho. But thank you I appreciate the input and thanks for watching
