I enjoy your channel. Would you consider being a guest on a podcast I’ve created about radio in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s. I live in Texas now but was born and raised in Duluth

When the “new” Arrowhead Bridge was mentioned at 1:10, I would assume they were talking about the eventual Richard I. Bong Memorial Bridge. The existing Arrowhead Bridge was 50 years old in 1977. Groundbreaking for the Bong Bridge started in 1979, while the bridge opened in 1984. The Bong Bridge was originally going to carry on the Arrowhead Bridge name.

Hi I’ve watched several of your videos and forgot if I left a comment or not to thank you. I moved from my home/Duluth many years ago-26 to be exact-but my love for Duluth and the City’s rich history will remain strong forever-especially the strong industrial roots found throughout the city. I drove the streets depicted in your videos daily as I worked on Ramsey St for many years, and even a year of heavy construction during the construction of LSPI Paper Mill. Your before and after the Mill construction videos are wonderfully nostalgic for me to watch; I can’t believe that was 1986! Always a bit of a rail buff but more so a history buff in general and so it’s a bit strange to see all the railroad tracks removed as time moved on, as well the many businesses either gone or changed-Sullys gas Station, Brads barbershop, Kmart, Good Shepherd church closed right? Many summers spent playing basketball at Memorial Park’s outdoor courts. OMG your video going across the Arrowhead bridge was such a treat. I could ramble on n on but know your local West Duluth videos are gratefully appreciated from several thousand miles away. PS if you know of any history links to the Raleigh Neighborhood, docks etc, as I’ve heard that was a bustling community in the day? Again, thanks n cheers, Pat

I was born in 1977 so I was very young when this bridge was still up. However I remember being slightly unnerved even at that age going over it. 😆👍 So awesome that you uploaded this. Thank you!

Same here! But it was always an adventure and it never did collapse. That was scary in the winter, especially the sharp curve on the Superior side! That old bridge always made a bunch of awful noises as I recall. . . But I was probably 6 or 7 when it was torn down. :-)

The change in haircuts in professionals from 1965 to 1975 is incredible. I try not to be so presumptuous, but it seems as if The Beatles really shook up our culture after the 1950s

Yeah they're cleaning up West Duluth and Lincoln Park area it appears as though homeowners are going to get $35,000 to improve their homes which pushes all of the people of color out of the neighborhood because we can no longer afford to live in houses that's right you have condemned the people to death am I kidding no f****** way

Jack was talking about everybody being busy with their Christmas shopping even though this newscast aired one day before Christmas Eve 1977. Did lots of people do their last minute Christmas shopping on Christmas Eve back in the 1970’s?

Those were the good old days Sunny, you said you lived in Duluth all your life, I wonder if you could settle an argument between my brother and me. We were talking about the bookstore/record store/head shop downtown back then and can't remember the name. I think it was called Downtown Book, my brother says no way but he doesn't have a clue. I appreciate your help.

@@GetonthebusGus126 If you're thinking books and records (as opposed to lava lamps and pipes), there was also Carlsons', where - in its heyday - you could find just about anything ever published on paper or vinyl. I think the owner of that place was also involved with The Last Place on Earth and Electric Fetus.
