Look at your own sail luff at 6.48 minutes into your video.The luff is not at all straight or supported by your spar ,and the sail is not even wrapped nicely round your carbon foil. The whole rigs doing a dance. Either you or Mr Macnamara are right but watch the luff on his boat in his training video on a blustery day and that is as straight as an arrow. I am sure the great man himself would tell you you need more rig tension. Perhaps you can post another video soon proving your products claim that it reduces luff sag. It is not a personel attack,you tube sent a link and I watched the video,both carefully and interestedly. I know that it can be hard to capture an image of sail set perfectly and your content is really showing what a great year you have had. I have not joined the W.A and with your free membership that is £50 less to promote the boat.One less family involved too I have not sailed as far in Sumi this year and not clicked any images as I am no longer on the group to share.I am still sailing with the family,and the grandaughter has had the tiller in her hand before her second birthday. Most of the Wayfarers here have not been uncovered all season. Really during covid ,and the first family week at Rutland and some conversations afrer about event numbers and how we could grow the event and the numbers off atendees. Part of my moving to Rutland was the number of Wayfarers at the club,the events that were held,and the facilities that the club has too host events.I anticipated been involved with this. Really 2024 has been a season of change I found myself within other groups and fleets and in the company of some keen sailors.I now have twin asymetric foils and a toilet and sink aboard. Currently my Wayfarer has escaped my fleet rationisation but it will not be as hard to say goodbye. It will be nice to Wayfarers back at the cruising conference once again. Seasons greetings and Fair Winds and bon voyage for 2025. Inclusion seems to be the buzz word for 2024 and respecting and allowing differing views and opinions within sailing and facilitating others to take part on an equal and fair basis.

Hey Matthew great tour of your Wayfarer cruising setup. Had many a wet launch off Brighton Beach when learning to sail in my youth😂 We were recently touring the Outer Hebrides on land. Do you have, and if not, would you consider, some collapsible tent poles to create arches under the tent? It would it create more room and allow a better water runoff.

Thanks for the video. May I ask what kind of an outboard do you use? I have got a MK2 without an engine bracket. One of the previous owners fitted some phenolic sheet on top of the transom from inside and outside and clamped an engine there. Clamp marks are still visible. I am thinking of buying a 2.3 hp air cooled petrol outboard but haven't decided long/short shaft yet. I would be interested in knowing your opinion. Cheers

I have a bracket supplied by Aeroluffspars and use a Suzuki 2.5 short shaft. Much quieter then the Honda and still has a forward and neutral gear. Plenty of power and very good fuel economy.

Glad I found this channel. brilliant stuff. At about 09:20 May I ask you what the little shiny clamps are, just aft of the camcleats on the centreboard case. I am looking for something that will clamp a line both ways and I am hoping they do that!!!
@MatthewSharman11 ай бұрын
Hi Dave. The system is a through deck block followed by a cam cleat, then a flip flop block which enables cleating from a wide variety of angles. Only one direction for cleating though. What line do you need holding? Matt
@SailingWithDave11 ай бұрын
@@MatthewSharman Hi Matthew. I just checked and I can see the "Flip Flop Block", however it is the steel things the other side of the cleat I am on about. They look like they hinge down onto the yello and red lines and clamp them some how. What are those!?

that was once in a life time sail in a little boat ,to get the weather window you could try that trip over and over tenfold and take a week getting as far as jura and the weather would stop you going further on only so long you can sit it out and the food and beer runs out and you head back to start point those weather conditions only come round every 3 or 4 years and you need to pick the right time hard to drop everything when the conditions suit

Another brilliant video, Matthew! After years visiting the N Norfolk coast, invariably at mid/low tide (!), I finally saw Brancaster Harbor at a mid-summer high spring tide, with the sun setting towards the North over the sea, and was blown away by the beauty of it all. Lovely to watch, a great area to sail in. I have now watched this film several times as a try to figure out how the boat is rigged. I can't help wondering if it might be possible to create a stern tank and remove the side tanks in my Albacore to make the interior resemble your Wayfarers? Best wishes Al
@MatthewSharman Жыл бұрын
Hi, Thanks for the nice comment. I wouldn't make such a radical alteration to your Albacore, tempting though it is to gain more space. You have to console yourself that your boat is somewhat easier to maneuver when out of the water than a Wayfarer!
@bigbadthesailor51734 ай бұрын
the best known method of ending up with a boat like a wayfarer is to buy a wayfarer!
@knucker49314 ай бұрын
@@bigbadthesailor5173 I can see that, but my cunning plan is to have a Wayfarer layout in an Albacore and it be lighter and easier to get through the water. Which is what attracted me to the class in the first place.
