I just got my BNsc in nursing, but I’ve always wanted to be a doctor and I have finally decided to chase my dreams. I have no idea how to start, but God has put that burden in my heart. I pray it comes to pass.

Smiling from ear to ear while watching this video. Not only your commitment and drive, but to see the support of your daughter - that is a beautiful thing. The relationship you all share and the way you support and bolster one another through your journeys is something to marvel at. Thank you for sharing your journeys and wisdom with us!

I absolutely loved this interview! I am so proud of the both of you. Your mom is so inspirational especially for the older people who wants to go to nursing school. I am 39 and getting ready to take my Accuplacer and its very helpful to hear from ones who are in nursing school or who have graduated❤.

Very inspiring wonderful ladies: Congratulations! just finished Nursing School at 49 and passed my NCLEX and I amabout to start my first job in ICU at 50.I have 6 children too. My younger classmates were wonderful with me. I am terrified but excited. I think with God's help we mature students/nurses very determined...we can all do it with God's help .

I am 51 and half way through nursing. It is tough to be one of the older students especially with not being so technical and not being able to keep up with the younger students with the Google docs, excel sheets, care plans online etc.. lol. Your mom is an inspiration. Not only because of her personality but her accomplishments. Did she have to do exit exams and if so how did she study for them ? I’m finding it hard to get a study pattern.

Young people do not understand how much older people need them. This girl did not clearly understand the support her mum needed from her.

Thank you for the video. Your mom's story has inspired me a lot. After watching her clip, I have decided to start nursing school next year. I am around 38 years old. At the moment, I am studying for the TEAS exam. I was curious to know if your mom completed her nursing degree with an ADN or BSN.

Thank you very much. This is really for me. I'd be 57 in five month's time and planning to apply for a pre-reg Nursing. I have a Master's degree but nothing else has given me fulfilment as I'd love to care for people. Self-actualisation as in Maslow's Theory, I'd say... I pray my dream comes true. That would be my second chance in life, especially with this programme. God bless you for the inspiration!

Good for you for going back!!! 🎉🎉🎉 This is inspiring, Im about to be 42, i used to be a med tech EMT and in Public Health in the military doing alot of nursing duties, i have a BA in Sociology and a Master's in Information Technology Management but now thinking about going back to school to get my RN. Ive been trying to get a good paying job and it has sucked by not getting a good paying job yet... I live in ATL and because ive been in the military i can go to school and get $2200 per month. Im leaning on the side of going back to get my RN, but i just feel like i waisted so much time getting other degrees in the past😢

I live near Poughkeepsie NY. I entered nursing school in 2008, with a bachelor's degree in Biology under my belt. I applied to one private college and got into that college. I received a bachelor's in Nursing and graduated in 2010 with a 3.54 GPA. I passed my boards on the first try in 75 minutes. I was never able to find a job as a nurse. I applied for a solid year and never received any answers. I was finally told by a nurse at a hospital that was Vassar and is now part of Nuvance that they are told by admin (the CEO) who they could hire - meaning they wanted 20 year olds. I finally realized that the nursing schools wanted your tuition money and would lie and talk about the nursing shortage and the textbooks talked about it but the real nursing shortage was in experienced nurses. I talked to a lawyer about suing the school and he said that I couldn't because the school would have had to have promised me a job in writing. I had paid the nursing school $33,000 in tuition. Now at 70 years old I still have to work. I take any crap job I can find and now no one will hire me because I am 70. Of course it is against the law to hold a person's age against them but it is on you to prove it. Before you give any school money ask them in Admissions if they will guarantee you a nursing job upon grad and demand they put it in writing. I know that in NY State and California THERE IS NO NUSING SHORTAGE. Going to nursing school and being able to find a job are 2 very different things. Just don't fall into the hole I did because I believed the lies they were all peddling about the nursing shortage.
