I hope you are finally getting warm in that house. It is wired to see a nice house like that and the previous owners lived with so little heat! This would be considered unusual where I come from. The flip side of being cold in the winter, is you are hot in the summer due to the poor insulation.
@VillaMandarosa2 күн бұрын
They had heating but it would have been so costly with the big old boiler and so inefficient without insulation. I think we loose most of our heat through the walls though and there is little we can do about that.

So how is the new stove performing? Are you warm? Not clear in the video. Your comment that the chimney was not tall, a thought had occurred to me: was the chimney stack tall enough to get an updraft to remove the smoke? A physic type question I think, of which I know nothing about so forgive me. I wander if that is why your room filled with smoke when the fire place was lit.
@VillaMandarosa9 күн бұрын
The log burner is working quite well, around 20 degrees now even with the kitchen door open. The issue was the wide opening on the fireplace, it was so big and smoke would hit the lintel and come into the room. Updraft was ok and would pull the draft and dirt into the room round the ceiling.
@lindahamilton93379 күн бұрын
So impressed with your many skills, turning your hand to any problem which arrive. Well done Andrew for installing the chimney. Being claustrophobic myself I was super impressed! Log burner looking great. Love the look of a real fire and hopefully it will heat your room and make it cosy. Weather here in Scotland is freezing with v low temperatures continuing- so glad we have central heating and looking forward to a thaw. Thinking of you now having a warm room.
@margaretlovelock70319 күн бұрын
What about your central heating, doesn’t that work?
@VillaMandarosa9 күн бұрын
@@margaretlovelock7031 Yes its a new system but the Villa is big and costly to have the heating on all the time plus the radiators in the reading room are connected to the ground floor apartment so we need to heat that if we have the radiators on in the reading room
@swirlgalaxy9 күн бұрын
Howdy Boys!! I recently learned that you lose about 85% of your heat up the chimney, it's far more efficient to have a stove!! It will help keep the dust down too!!! Big bear hugs from Kenny in Ohio, USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally agree you require to have a metal plate around the hose as it will be Pointless putting in a log burner.
@VillaMandarosa9 күн бұрын
@@margaretrollo4114 It’s not normal to fit a metal plate. Plasterboard is non combustible and a metal plate would just absorb the heat and would not insulate. We have watched many videos about this.

I’ve been here 55 years and you must make an effort to learn Italian. You should have had the chickens wings clipped a little bit so that they couldn’t fly up. You should have learned more about keeping chickens before getting them.
