Just bought an 88 17-ft mako with a 135 Merc. Taking it out tonight for the first time. Curious to see how that old carbureted Mercury pushes it. Any guesses?

I believe you have to go to a marina to have the boat lifted so you can access those areas.

Not 100% sure. It was a flat calm day. If I had to guess...they made a turn with too much weight in the tower. Boats flip that way quite often in the Chesapeake Bay.

I also ate my first ribbon fish this year, in about August. one thing I found when cleaning them, if you remove the head and then grasp the dorsal fin near the "neck" you can with very little effort pull it from the front of the fish all the way down the back and remove it in one long piece before you cut the fish into smaller portions.

I did a very basic pan fry with the fish lightly dredged in flour. (I wanted to get more of the fish flavor than a bunch of batter). I found it to be similar to the flavor of yellow (ringed) perch. Not bad. Not my favorite. But, it was FISH, who doesn't like fish. One of the ladies from church is a Philippine woman, I gave some to her and she was delighted to have them. Apparently they're a delicacy there!
