Great to see that talented Irish cailin doing her bit to counter the trend in the historically low birth rate of the Irish (proper Irish, not the new arrivals ). Have more, Aine!☘️🙏

I would like to know what the instrument that the gentleman is playing and its tuning. also where one might get their hands on one.
@LouisMacRuairí6 ай бұрын
That gentleman is Brían Mac Gloinn and He's playing a Tenor guitar, He might be in the tuning GDAD not too sure though.
@RahulBery5 ай бұрын
I think his one was made by a Dublin luthier called Frank Tate. But they're fairly easy to get hold of - in the UK there's plenty about, Ozark seem to be the main manufacturers. I'd imagine his is tuned GDAE, same as tenor banjo...
@LouisMacRuairí3 ай бұрын
@@RahulBeryI thought GDAE too, but recently learned the piece on the bouzouki and figured out he has it tuned to GDAD.(Just thought I'd share)

Does any one know the names of these tunes?
@prangbro11 ай бұрын
The first one is called 'If all the young maidens were blackbirds and thrushes' which comes from a fragment recorded by the great piper and singer Seamus Ennis. and the song Jimmy sings around 7:30 is 'The rocks of bawn' famously sung by Joe Heaney. then Brian sings 'The rigs of London town'. Don't know the names of any of the instrumental tunes tho...

Not sure exactly what they were saying, but the first set of reels are definitely all Paddy Fahey tunes. And the jigs are, as well, in the second set? The final set is ‘A (the?) Welcome Call’ by Liz Kane herself…followed by two Joe Liddy reels, I believe?

What an innovative and fantastically swinging way to play polkas. I prefer this to the fast "hornpipe-speed" they are often played nowadays. Brilliant job, gentlemen!
