So as I understood they were trying to play with structure of the story. Main game goes through Protagonist POV, but for actual story to happen we need also POV of Minoru. So, they're basically were trying to make it more realistic as I would imagine? And how same events mean different things for people? Also the point of such decisions to make two different endings is because it's story of sister who tried to find her long lost brother and brother who tried to find her long lost sister. Parallels between Junko and Minoru are basically all there, so for story actually to happen we need both of their stories. It's definitely the most compelling written piece of work out of all previous FDS games, because it's not just a detective story, but also the one which has a lot of artistic values, which makes it more valuable as a piece of work.

People seem to bash Other M for poor writing, while the reason for it was abysmal localization which ruined Sakamoto's script and his original intentions. OG Other M script is also very well written work which I consider slightly superior, than Emio, but Other M was Sakamoto's magnum opus so it's hard to surpass it, but he tried well with Emio. Sakamoto still can write incredibly touching stories with a lot of depth. We should support this game and Sakamoto as well!

How'd I not know that there was an attempted reboot of Sparkster/Rocket Knight Adventures before now? And how is it THIS BAD, despite Climax Studios/Climax Group being good at their craft in the late PS1 days? (SpongeBob SquarePants SuperSponge doesn't count.)

I've never played Darkseed, but like a lot of people on KZbin I discovered it through retsupurae riffing on the series way back in the day. From what I saw it's like the reviewer said, the first is fascinating to watch but you need to live and breathe adventure games to follow some of its logic. The sequel meanwhile is just absolutely bonkers. The whole game feels like it's shitting on Mike Dawson, turning him into the most pathetic kind of manchild that's just failed to launch. It looks like a much fairer game to play too, give or take a few moments in the dark world.

Thanks! I've actually played the games a few times on this channel. I can't exactly remember which videos though... It was also one of the first games I remember for the NES and have a fondness for. Especially the music. I got both my original NES cart and a disk version I imported like 15 years ago.

11:07 Other way around... And I'm just now realizing that the modders also edited Arale's hair color in the HUD without also editing that hat or anything anywhere else. It's also a little funny that the vanilla version of this game features that 1997 outfit when Arale had already gotten a new main outfit for the 1999 episodes, but I'm guessing they only had the earliest episodes to work with when this game started production; it's been said that the game ends up following the original series' sequence of events more as it goes along.

That was a great little series (I say "little" figuratively, of course). You showcased some great titles I would have otherwise never heard about, and some which I have enjoyed tremendously myself. Regardless of its' popularity here on KZbin, RetroRank Rhapsody was an excellent idea and project. Thank you so much for your labors over the years, and posting the fruits of your efforts for others to watch. Hi-ho, and best of luck on your future endeavors.

1:38:57 Simple 1500 Series Vol. 26: The Card 2 was the name of this in Japan. Usually you can recognize it as a Simple series game if the title screen's look matches other games in that series. Not all the time but it's usually a good tell.

It kind of shocks me how few views some of these submissions get. I honestly think that your ranking project is one of the more innovative and honest systems ever devised in the gaming world to determine what's good, what's enjoyable, what's awful, and what's just... Freaking weird. I've never been enamored with the slew of Japan-exclusive titles, because while I DEFINITELY can appreciate all the work that goes into translating some of those titles into Engrish/English? Most of the videogames that were Japan-exclusive consists, by a LARGE margin, of dating sims -and considering their propensity towards the adult/fan service end of the spectrum and their... Somewhat lax regard to the less-than-chaste portrayal of women who are WAY too freaking young? Yeah, major no bueno. That said? This is definitely one of those titles I feel like should have made it to American shores, LONG before dedicated groups busted their butts to translate an absolutely ridiculous amount of in-game dialogue into a reasonable facsimile of English. You can almost theorize to no end about how much an official English release of this title would have ultimately affected the horror genre of video games past and present. We can definitely be grateful that it was at least influential in the limited scope it was marketed to. I, for one, wouldn't want to live in a reality where Resident Evil IV never existed. A world without occasional utterances of the merchant asking "WHAT'RE YA BUYIN'?!" is a sad, empty place that may as well be a blasted Mad Max'esque wasteland populated by cannibal clones of Joe Liberman. ...Yeah, maybe don't think about that too much close to bedtime.

The whole thing was just so bizarre. The fight scenes were lack lustre and I thought that like... I know it's a weird "man pride" thing for that dude with the two sons to have to finish his fight on his own, but I was thinking as that scene happened that it'd be hilarious if the dude died and left two kids behind because then it would be Terry's fault for thinking that he shouldn't have gone to his colleague's aid for... a cliche that's unnecessary and doesn't look cool. That scene was basically a good framing device for everything that would happen after; the plot was strung together on cliche after cliche and It was just boring. That being said, the outfits were fun! I really like that aesthetic, as well as the artistic style from the 90s.

I also feel like I should note that the first Tsubasa game actually has a separate scene that plays in it if you force a tie between Nankatsu and Toho, like in the source. A tradition that has remained in every Tsubasa game that features that match since, including the newest one.
