A funny comment(does not reflect my own personal view😆) from another review video: He just makes movies for paying his bills and his wife’s expenses, period. His movies have been crap for years now. I don’t why they keep giving him money to make crap. Dude needs a break to India and come back with a clean head. The part about them giving him money is way off, because he’s been self financing a lot of his recent movies and he’s one of the few headliner directors who’s actually making original movies. Maybe he should also try his hand at writing and directing some Bollywood movies, as well?🤔😆

Naaaah. I laughed quite a lot, as opposed to something like The Happening, which took a Rifftrax commentary to make me chuckle at it :) While watching "Trap" in the theatre, getting progressively more intoxicated I kept getting a phrase "serial killer sitcom" stuck in my head. If anything I was only let down by the fact that Cooper didn't actually kill his entire family when Lady Raven locked herself up in the toilet, THAT was a letdown for me, took quite a large "awwww" out of me. Could've been so funny if he opened the door covered in blood with a fireman axe in hand, then blaming HER for forcing him to do it, like in that awesome scene in that "Hunters" series where a nazi officer kills everyone at the cookout party after a camp survivor lady recognizes him and makes a scene. Because Hartnett is genuinely great in the film - any time he has to talk to another human being the tension between him and them is tickling me real good. So it is a perfectly fine film, enjoyable, entertaining to a fault and bullshit, which is great, because who in their right mind would want to watch a realistic serial killer movie directed by the cheese factory that is Shyamalan ?)

@@viewtiful1doubleokamihand253 you bring up a great point, you're right, there was a lot of the time I was sitting there wondering saying to myself, " Is this supposed to be a comedy? Because it's highly unbelievable and the surrounding characters acting was so bad compared to him. And there were so many plot holes that never got answered, like how did the kidnapping happen and why, was there a purpose to his madness? What is the beef between the 2 girls? Why is everyone cooperating with him and going along with no resistance when everybody knows there a killer on the loose. I found it all highly ridiculous in all aspects. It couldn't possibly be a serious film!
@viewtiful1doubleokamihand253
@viewtiful1doubleokamihand253 5 ай бұрын
@@Bradli Precisely ! It isn't a serious film at all, it's a cheesefest, a chuckle-goof exploitation shlock, as are ALL of Shyamalan films - a pure high-concept nonsense that puts fun and the "what if !?" idea above anything and everything realistic. There are vague clues to stuff you are mentioning: there is a very convenient camera footage of Cooper snatching the guy into the van, then there is a monologue by Cooper when he is driving Lady Raven away instead of her driver about how he is infuriated by those who are "complete" yet can be sliced as good as anyone else, vague mentions of abuse by his mother, which if you are versed in real-world serial killers means that there is a childhood scar that persist all throught the life of an individual and in case of Cooper seems to show that same as, say, Francis Dollarhyde in "Manhunter" ("Red Dragon") he seems to hate happy complete families and people who are accomplished and feel good about it. At least that is how I got it. As for girls... who cares ?) Teens constantly have stupid relation drama, if anything I am pretty sure the entire point to her being "bullied" is to justify the existence of that other girls' mother at the concert, who is annoying Cooper, but can't be killed, because she is WAY TOO CLOSE to him.
@Bradli

@@viewtiful1doubleokamihand253 yeah but what if we found out his daughter deserved it, maybe she's actually the bad girl. At the end I was hoping there was gonna be another twist, that actually it was the mother that was the killer or maybe the whole family are psychopaths, ALL which would have been BRILLIANT ideas instead of what we got, a movie that was spoiled with the trailer. It was sad and if you don't believe me, look how it's rated by both critical and general audience. But I'm glad you were able to enjoy it as a comedy, because it was laughably bad and predictable.

Your shirt told me everything I need to know about the film. Now I'm gonna watch it.

@@resolute123 🤔 interesting... A T-shirt of a show I (someone you don't know) loved as a 12 year old child growing up in the 80s told you everything you need to know to make a decision of seeing a western movie that you haven't seen 40 years later? 🤣 That's one helluva decision process. You do you, bud! There are a few things to like about it, scenery, Kevin Costner's incomplete character, the Indian story that got abandoned and yeah that's about it. Enjoy! Thanks for the comment!

@@Bradliyeah, your shirt is telling. A sci fi nerd isn't going to care about a western to begin with. Also that "montage of deleted scenes" at the end is actually a preview of the upcoming chapter 2. Again, you clearly didn't care about this movie before you saw it.

@@michaelgrotz5229 if I didn't care, why would I submit myself to the torture? Also they've cancelled part 3 and 4. And part 2 is going straight to streaming they pulled it from the theater release. It is possible to like more than one genre of film. And doesn't matter what the genre is if it is good filmmaking which this is not... And is why it is failing.

@@Bradlithere are content creators who will watch stuff that they don't like just so they can rip it apart for the views. They either admit that's what they're going to do, or in rare cases they end up liking it and admit they were wrong. If we don't get to see all four movies, oh well, cancellations happen. Yes, people can like different genres, but all the sci fi nerds I know also won't waste their time on a western. I wouldn't say it's terrible, but ambitious. There's a lot of story to tell that's why it was intended to be four movies.

@@michaelgrotz5229 Well, westerns are one of my favorite genres, I see every Western that hits the theaters. Unforgiven is in my top 5 movies all time, I'm a fan of Tombstone 2nd, Good Bad and the Ugly, Wyatt Earp, my 2nd favorite comedy of all time is Blazing Saddles. I even liked Open Range which wasn't that great but is one of the most beautiful movies I've seen shot. Point is the story telling in American Horizon is not well done, they didn't introduce most of the characters at all, Part one seemed more like part 2. And them putting all those clips at the end was for a reason, they knew they had a problem and needed to entice people to see the 2nd part because it was bad. EVERY movie has to have a beginning middle and end. This movie only had middle. It failed for a reason, it's just not good. But sure there are things to like about it like scenery and Costner's acting. Die hard western fans will like anything that's released because so few are made. But you can't tell me it's good when that woman was in the woods with Costner and the next scene she's in the tent with some random dude with no explanation or transition. 🤣This movie is a mess. Mostly due to some of the worst editing I've ever seen. I'm glad you liked it tho... Some of my friends did too, but filmmaking wise, it's terrible. We all have bad movies we like, but it doesn't take away from the fact that they are still bad movies. At least I can admit they're bad.

Not in my eyes, but I appreciate your opinion. Others have said the same, but for what I do EV is best for me. There are some things I miss in the Volvo like play store apps, google assistant navigation, driver display navigation. But Ride suspension, dependability, speed, fun and possible robotaxi use in future. Plus I got a great deal on financing 1.99%
