Would this work on the stock motor if you put the prop and esc mods on? Or would it just not last long ?
@AJHewson18 күн бұрын
The motor was getting hot with stock setup. I played around with other props and found nothing that had a big improvement before upgrading the entire power system. So to answer your question, it would not last long and likely catch on fire
@EngineNoise3058 күн бұрын
@@AJHewson1 Thanks. I guess the stock motor is pretty low quality? Mine has a 3541-750Kv motor, and i think your upgrade was to a 3520-900? I would think those specs would be close enough, but i guess not.
@AJHewson18 күн бұрын
@@EngineNoise305 one thing you’ll find is that the manufacturers don’t use the same sizing methods. So the 3541 size it the outside of the motor for this case, the 3520 is the commutator or the bit inside the motor that the windings are wrapped around. The outside of the 3520 motor is actually 4245 in the stock motor style sizing

Years back we had a totally blown out F3F league meeting in south Wales. The wind was a pretty solid 90mph gusting up and down by about the same as you saw here. I loaded up my back up Acacia F3F with every last bit of lead and flew it. Went okay but the conditions weren't fun really. My old mate Andy Ellison flew his Higgins Rodent and it really went well. Fun days, had to be done!

Fantastic Alex and Brent! So cool to see you two back up there! Great job finding a new spot and popping 300+. Amazing footage with the snow in the high background and all. Spectacular! For me it was so good when you zoomed into the dam wall area. That is where I planed for the first time, windsurfing in the early 80's. We used to spend most weekends in that dirt area on the left side, waiting for the wind. We would sail from the left over to the skinny peninsula and back mostly. That wind direction seemed to be the direction we always used to sail on, blowind straight over the dam wall. Have a great rest of your trip. I'll check out your other vids.

What are the benefits of it over the packing tape which has always seemed like a lighter options on my thermal wings but never gave it any REAL strength... but it weights next to nothing. That foam sounds pretty dense too though. Given the wind speeds in Chch area I understand how you wouldnt worry about weight though lol
@AJHewson12 ай бұрын
The benefits are that it’s one piece, rather than lots of overlapping pieces which helps in torsional rigidity a huge amount. You can get it in varying thicknesses depending on the desired strength and weight required. The foam is about 25kg/m2 density.
