Do you have any episodes involving active duty military applicants?

(This may not be feasible for people over 35) and I know I am super late to this but any other foreign born people watching one way (Maybe lengthy and possibly free) to get into the med school in the US would be through enlisting in the US Military. If you get your permanent residency you could join and go into the medical field as enlisted, get training through the military (Also get assistance toward citizenship) you can utilize the tuition assistance and GI Bill to knock out your premed and medical school. They also have programs where they will pay for medical school in return for a service contract commitment. There are options it may take a lot of work and planning but if it’s your life goal nothing can stop you!! Best of luck!!

I didn't cite my sources correctly, and my professor reported me! My sources were in my reference page, but I didn't use intext citation. I'm also looking into med school I'm in my last year of college!

Great video. I’m 28 years old, father of 1, and this video was what I needed to be confident to move on from my career in audit and apply to med school.

All organization do staffing cycle projections This is very misleading content, let’s start off by saying that you would never be granted a scholarship without being physically cleared to serve first , Moving forward to your field of speciality, you must match into the field of specialty the same way you would in a civilian residency, every branch is different when it comes to match percentages for instance the US ARMY has a 95 percent first choice specialty match the air-force has a 70 percent and the navy has a 76 percent match rate the civilian residency match is 67 percent, this means that if you didn’t match in the military you definetly were not in a civilian residency and most likely would of participated what’s known as the scramble . The military does outsource to civilian residency as well the air-force does so at a 46 percent residency rate. Next not all branch’s have General Medicine officer (GMO) only the navy and Air Force do which usually does make up 24 percent of that class due to that inability to get into a field of specialty, this is not the military fault but this can also be seen as a blessing for some because you didn’t just go through medical school and get stuck jobless because you weren’t able to get into residency. The military also outsources to civilian residencies if need be. Just remember your experience is not the experience, if something didn’t go your way it’s usually not just a one sided reason

As some have said, we don’t know how their secondaries and interviews went. It would be great to have secondaries on Application Renovation. Is that a possibility?

Wow, these are just words, I'm 42years old and I ould like to do medicine just because healthcare is too expensive too hard to get a spot so at least I'll be able to take care of myself! In the mean time I did not go to school after my year 12 certificate cause I have been looking after my husband and since I Waa 22 years old I wanted to do medicine but it's either too expensive or my family was laughing at me or my grades are all between a 'C' or a 'C minuce' and some 'C plus' so I'm scared to bother for it! So.. .

I'm 26 and I'm currently working on becoming a truck driver. Not because I really want to, but because a few people suggested it to me and I don't make enough money where I'm currently working. Don't get me wrong, it's cool to have the skills to safely operate such a large and heavy vehicle, but it's not my passion even though I've always been into cars and driving. I've been through a bit medically in the past and I've always wanted to help people and give back. I took care of my grandpa when he got sick. I'm used to being around hospitals and I've always been curious where I'd end up if I tried to become a doctor. I think im gonna give it a shot in a few years. I'll still keep my license so I can drive trucks.

I really love Mission: Accepted. It shows us inspiring stories and gives us good examples of preferred ways to go about preparing a medical school application. It also is mentally uplifting after watching so many rejection videos.

I think this is extremely unfair. The whole med school application process is unfair. Ad-coms need to stop prioritizing your personal statement and rather ensure that your academic record and clinical experience takes primacy over everything else. Anything other than that is just extremely unfair. I say this because not every applicant is going to have a sob story to tell, or something extraordinary to say, I don't see why that should make you less qualified to be a doctor
@dramaturge23119 күн бұрын
The thing is, if he told his school that a certain number of clinical hours were completed but didn’t complete them because of going to an interview, that is academic dishonesty. I wonder if that was the case here.

We always esteem and emphasise diligence as a precious value and yet in interviews we keep getting told not to over rehearse and over prepare and script 😂😂😂 what a difficult world we live in!!! I think the most important value is be genuine! Even if we have prepared the answers, make sure they are honest, true and sincere! Just don’t be a robot!!! 😂

Any tips for autistic individuals trying to navigate how to communicate while sounding “normal”? Sometimes we have to “rehearse” a little bit just to sound normal to others

This is so confusing. I thought his answer for the first question was great but if I had given that answer to my advisor she would’ve roasted me and said “I don’t need your resume” “don’t tell me things you DID, tell me who you ARE”. I am so confused and I keep getting different feedback from everyone and this feels impossible.
@InspiredIsland4 күн бұрын
I would say stick with telling who you are. In my opinion his answer got too much into his reasons for medicine, and interviewers will likely ask you "why medicine" anyways so its not necessary to include for "tell me about yourself". Dont know for sure tho I waiting on my first interviews too, good luck!

I do not like “reach” and “safe” schools for undergrad all the way to graduate/MD programs BECAUSE if you are turned down from your “reach” then mentally you may be trapped that “all I got was my safe school” All schools YOU choose to apply to should be great fits for YOU. My opinion

I'm a teacher and I would like to transition to Speech Language Pathologist. How can I combine my experience of teaching to SLP? Can I work full time in a School setting and have my own practice? Can a SLP work at all levels in Education which area has the most need in Education and is there a difference in salary between Elementary Middle High School College. Thanks. I am currently researching information to help me understand the field better.
