People say Ty2 was the best, but I'd have to disagree. It starts to drift from the core platforming that the first game mastered. Let me just bullet point what the first game did better: Earn boomerangs from collectibles. Story is about saving his parents. Better motivation and simple. No machine missions. Those sucked hard in both 2 and 3. For sure the worst parts of those games. I even enjoyed the bull in the 1st game. Levels were longer and had more detail. The collectibles mattered and were more hidden in fun environments. If they make another game then I almost demand the entire game as just Ty. It's safer that way and would be a lot more enjoyable. The bunyip missions are the single reason I go "I'll play Ty 2 again, but wait! Oh, I don't wanna deal with those missions so never mind"

The controls feel stiff on the PC version when using a controller. When using keyboard and mouse or playing on any other version with controller it feels fine. This is because of steam not having logarithmic sensitivity for controllers, just linear. making your movement feel like all or nothing.

There's always been something that's stuck with me about this game, Even since childhood. I think it might be the design of the world, The open world-esqe style of driving from place to place, And some of the set-pieces, Like the golden grass surrounding Sly's shack, Or the city looming just off the coast of the beach. Made it feel like it was it's own little chill world that I could visit anytime I liked. I guess that's probably why I'd consider this game the most nostalgic to me. I'm really glad that Krome studios is back and giving the Ty series the love it deserves.

Ty 1 has some levels that are too big, such as the winter area and the larger maps make it a pain to collect opals. I'll take smaller levels that don't waste your time, I pretty much share Nitro Rads opinion about TY1, it tries to be like Banjo Kazooie but fails.

@@Cousinbiddy1 It is a little hard to give an answer for tropical setting, as it depends on how you personally define it imo. But traveling to new locations is a big part of Ty 2. Ty's voice actor from 1 didn't return for 2 and 3. Stig Wemyss was Ty in the first. That was one reason why I was turned off by the sequels. While Stig is actually Australian, Greg Ellis is English. So Greg's Ty always came off to me as a bad Australian impression. Ty 1 is fun to beat, but too frustrating to complete. I was wanting to give 2 another chance, but from your review I should probably save my money.
@GhostbonesVT3 жыл бұрын
Well shoot, you're absolutely right! I guess I always choked the difference up to audio mastering and totally missed that! 1 is actually much better to complete now than it's original state- they've added some useful info trackers to cut down on wasted time. And yeah, 2 has its moments and is a great nostalgia trip but is a little weighed down. Thanks for the heads up, I'll add it to the description in a little bit! :)
@fizzyfuzz58783 жыл бұрын
@@GhostbonesVT New info trackers like what? I heard the Infrarang got a patch later that made it easier to find those invisible boxes. And sure thing! Even as a kid I could tell his voice was off in 2 and 3. Baffling decision by the developer, if it was theirs to make. Ty 2 seems to get a little too gimmicky and not focus on platforming enough.
@GhostbonesVT3 жыл бұрын
@@fizzyfuzz5878 It gives level-specific collectible info that's super clear- so you don't have to go guessing what you're missing. Ty 1 HD at least was a delight for me to complete but I don't know if I'd do the same with 2. And with a lot of games of the era, VO wasn't at all a priority and often devs would just step in to fill roles. And yeah, they definitely redirected focus. It was a brave choice but definitely hasn't stood the test of time. I'm really excited to get back into 3, it always stood out as the Black Sheep of the series.

Hey, I’m a friend of Beckett’s and also a veteran battleborn player, so they told me abt ur channel. I’m mourning the game so much now 😭. I wanted to make a video, or post, or /something/ telling my thoughts about it all but i dont think i can get my thoughts down in their entirety. Battleborn was such an amazing game. If there was something I could do in the future to bring it back, god would I. I have a pipedream hope that the original team who made the game would get the rights from gearbox and go on to make a redo/sequel, and if they needed my money from that i’d give every damn penny i could. It just....deserves so much better. I’ll always remember this game, and in my own ways, i’ll keep it alive even if its unplayable. Our battle doesn’t have to end.
@GhostbonesVT4 жыл бұрын
Yeah with the scope of the game, encompassing it all without being torturously long is a challenge. Battleborn was the dream of a weird little idea game backed by a AAA studio's resources. It really did deserve so much better and I'll be keeping my eyes open for spiritual successors or HOPEFULLY some sort of comeback.
@yassiryabeta32044 жыл бұрын
My experience with Battleborn was with the presentation trailer of Oscar Mike and Issic, it was one of the most interesting things that I saw in a long time and then when I tried the Beta, I remember that I managed to unlock all the characters, then when the game came out and not I was able to buy it for a long time and at the end of 2017 I was able to buy it, there were not many people anymore but I enjoyed it very much, when I found out that it could no longer be played, I played it again to get its platinum and I managed it, one of the best games that I have tried thanks to their characters. If there is ever something like a sequel it would be great if Rendain comes back with half the body fused with some kind of Varelsi

It's not unheard of for Offline/Dead games to be brought back, it'll just be extra tricky with how the game checks everything against a server (character data, gear, etc). Getting just the story mode back would be a huge victory :)
@LastEngi4 жыл бұрын
1. I think someone will find a way to play the game by making your own server and showing a guild/mod how to. 2. I love this game so much, the first level of the game and tobys raid is where I spent almost all my time. 3. after looking at risk of rain 2 and poeple modding in new playable poeple I plan on trying to add Battleborn characters to it. 4. If you want a game like this I would say risk of rain 2, or my new fav DEEP ROCK GALACTIC. With that out of the way alani and marquee where my most played with isic in there to. Then after watching fairy tail again I heard galilea and realized shes a playable erza scarlet.(she also voices Nova) An also not much talked about is the sound track. my favs are Henchmens theme from level one, and like every song from tobys raid. The level design in tobys raid is just perfect. The only bad part is the final boss is a little weak and could have been more flashy. Also I still just pull up videos of character voice lines and listen to them
@GhostbonesVT4 жыл бұрын
I'd really love to see someone resurrect the game in some way, just not sure how they'd manage with how everything is tied to the main servers. And I've played a lot of Risk of Rain 2! It really is pretty dang great.
@LastEngi4 жыл бұрын
@@GhostbonesVT The thing is about running your own server is to do it how Deep rock works. When you run the game you make a new temporary private server that 3 other people can join. ie the servers can never go down cuz your PC runs one and saves your progress locally. This means alot of poeple mod the game to have more money or carry more ammo in a game. This would be what i would like to see. If possible. When your game comes online it links to a web of other servers(Other PCs and will let you join). If the host DCs so does everyone else. The most importent part is you can play offline. You don't need the internet to play the game. I don't know how they got this to work, or why no other game I've played seems to use this.(save risk of rain 2)

The analogy that I use when trying to sum up my conflicted feelings about BL3 is how I feel about the sequel series of Avatar the Last Airbender, Legend of Korra. Legend of Korra had solid animation (mostly), a great OST, quality VA's, but when it came to the story? All of that didn't matter because the writing was so mediocre if not downright terrible.
