Sikhism was founded about 500 years ago by Guru Nanak, and from its beginnings, Sikhism emphasized the equality of all people. The typical Sikh believes all paths lead to God. Most seem pretty content with their way of life and see little need for something more. Today, Sikhs number around 25 million-the fifth largest religion in the world. Photo 2: Cautious yet gracious, this matriarch allowed a single photo at her rural home. Photo 3: This subcontinent has some of the deadliest earthquakes globally, which may be the reason for above-ground utilities. Photo 4: Principles of Sikhism state that women have the same souls as men and possess an equal right to cultivate their spirituality. Photo 5: Our photographer met this man in a marketplace. He had a genuine smile, friendly demeanor and welcoming handshake. They shared tea and chatted in broken language. “Sometimes you meet someone and wish you could really know them more. French WAS the lingua franca for about 300 years after the Battle of Hastings from the 11th - 14th centuries. William brought it over with him and it was spoken at Court and by the aristocracy so was the official language of the country. I learnt this in the 70s in history. The Penny Black is the reason why the UK doesn't have its name on stamps. We were the originators of them.

....and the UK didn't exist when French was widely used in court and in the legal system in England. There is no official national language for the UK even today. Wales has English as an official language but it is only de facto in England, you could write contracts etc in any language you like.

Thanks for the correction! Yes, we should have said the most commonly used language in England.

@@pioneersusa useful trick is to say 'britain' instead of 'uk', since it can mean the modern country or the island depending on context

It may seem like religion is everywhere in England, but the reality is that most people have lost touch with their faith and the meaning behind all those beautiful cathedrals. There are also thousands of people consistently moving into the UK from other countries and faiths. We’re grateful for Chris and his ministry to reach the migrants entering this corner of the world.

Thank you! I love Japan and I love Korea because of exchange students! Many years ago I had exchange students at different times from both of those nations. Extraordinary high school students! The Korean boys were Christians. The Japanese young lady was Bhuddist. I still think of all of them often and pray for them.

What is Giving Tuesday? 🤷♀️ Just a few days after Black Friday, #GivingTuesday is a day to encourage donating towards charitable causes, and it’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season in generosity! Giving Tuesday is only one week away. Would you consider donating to Pioneers this year? Here’s why… 2,000 years ago, Jesus said, “Go ahead.” And that’s what we’ve been doing for the last 45 years-going into the least reached places and bringing the gospel where it wouldn’t be accessible any other way. If you want to be a part of spreading Jesus’s fame to every tribe, tongue and nation, please consider giving to Pioneers on December 3! Head to pioneers.org/give to donate.

When you’re living as a missionary in another country, it can be difficult to start relationships with locals. It takes patience, time and a lot of intentionality to build trust and develop meaningful friendships. That’s why it is such a joy when missionaries have an opportunity to connect with locals like this man!

No not at all. Christianity has a good reputation around the world. Islamic missionaries, hair Krisnah missionaries, Mormons, Catholics, Buddhists. That whole paranoia of the world being communist locking up missionaries is a myth. Most countries, especially Communist Vietnam have assorted religions, AND even made up a few that fuses these spiritual guidance. Cao Daism is a fusion to Catholics, Muslims, and Buddists. Japan is a Constiutional Monarchy even gangsters form their own religions to avoid taxes, Hong Kong and Macao, has mosques, temples of all sorts, local temples (usually to the Goddess of the Sea), India has a long history of Christianity Islam, and Hinduism, Sikhism..

People come from all over the word to live in New York, which makes it rich with culture! Missionaries living in cultural hot spots of America can help spiritual seekers from other nations hear the gospel, and hopefully, share the good news with those back home who might never hear it otherwise.

Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest Christian structures in England. It was founded by St. Augustine over 1,400 years ago and is now one of the most-visited historic sites in the UK. Inside the cathedral is the tomb of the Archbishop Sudbury, and on the side of his tomb are these alcoves that were added for private prayer. The clever design of the alcoves allows for a completely private experience-when you lean your head into the space, outside noise becomes a gentle murmur. They also allow you the privacy to pray out loud because those outside cannot hear what you are saying, either, even if they are in the next alcove!

🎙️ This week on the Relentless Pursuit Podcast, Steve Richardson joins us to talk about his new book! ”Not on Board: Jonah’s Plunge Into God’s Plan” is a little book with a big message. Jonah’s themes reverberate through the rest of Scripture: God is sovereign, just, and loving. He calls His people to align our hearts with His and to join Him in His compassionate pursuit of a world under condemnation. Head to pioneers.org/podcasts to hear the full episode!
