The best thing about guitar guys who post vids is that they can see their progress if they started when they hadn't been playing long. I started playing hair guitar in 1985 when I was 15. No recording options like there is now. My Jake E Lee and George Lynch covers have dramatically improved over the years. Still no wizard, but can get pretty close.

@jacksonmarshallkramer5087 I agree, I've played since I was 13, still suck but really enjoy it. I think when you record yourself it shows you all the flaws, which helps point out what needs work.

The Floyd minus fine tuners is the one Brad Gillis uses on his Strat. It's the third Floyd ever made. Eddie and Neal Schon got one and two.

Just need an original Floyd without fine tuners. $125.00 from Sweetwater. The TREMALONE is a jig to locate the Floyd posts for specifically for the Baretta Special. There's a vid.

I've got that same guitar. The black tuners look KILLER. A black bridge is a necessity, now. I love playing it. One of the best playing/feeling guitars I've ever played. I've been playing hair guitar since 1985. Had a bunch of em. The neck is fantastic and I came from a thin Jackson. I want a gray Vintage, but the neck is different. It's got a Strat profile. I like the non floating Floyd. Played Floyds for 30+ yrs., but they can be a pain in the ass at string change.

I bought a candy blue one, put a bone nut, gold wilkerson tuners, a gold vega trem and had a guitar skin made for the top it with a sonic the hedgehog graphic 🤘 The stock pickup it comes with isn't the best but it still gets the job done and is an unnecessary optional replacement I love watching the modding community around this guitar!

@@brianwalker7417 I'm used to Floyd Rose guitars. it's very pricey at $300 but considering you can put it in most s-style guitars in 30 min, it's very well made as expected for the price. More sustain than a Floyd special and closer to sustain on a FR-1000. But I'm sure there's more variables that contribute to the decent sustain it has. I've only changed out the strings 1@ a time so as someone whose not a good at setting up floating bridges, I'd have a tough time taking all the strings off at the same time and setting it up again without KZbin

I would feel better with a locking nut but with just the vega and bone nut, If I'm doing crazy dive bombs, it'll at least stay in tune for a 3-7 minute full song before tuning again

That's the sucky thing about hot pickups. They are great for distortion but suck at clean tones. I have two guitars with super distortion pups in the bridge. Love them for the heavy stuff but on clean they still get to dirty. Can roll the volume back and that helps a little, but I think the tone suffers a bit.

You can split a humbucker by grounding the wire that joins the coils together, or by shorting it to the hot output wire to have the other coil active. I just ordered one of these and might see whether I can put a series/parallel option by cutting that join wire and putting a DPDT switch. My biggest worry is the nut and the break angle of the strings possibly making the G string go sharp when the trem is used.
@brianwalker7417
@brianwalker7417 Жыл бұрын
Good option for pickup...I've never tried that way. The nut on mine is great no issues at all. I did use some Nut Sauce and loosened the trim for easier use. Mine goes back in tune every time with no problems.

@@brianwalker7417 I was a teenager then and since then dug VH. It started a little late with me. I didn’t listen to them a whole lot before. I know that the war is still ongoing since 1985 as to who was a better singer, Sam or Dave. But, I’m a Sammy guy. Anyway I wasn’t a pop or disco listener. I liked rock (not so much metal later, a slight distinction, I know) but I didn’t like Roth’s singing really. Anyway, when 1984 came out, my ears were absolutely blown away by the synth with the guitar with “Jump”. That’s when I really became a VH fan. (I did like Hagar before that too) Then when I heard Sammy with Ed, I was more blown away. The great, hard jams on 5150 combined with the synth or “Why Can’t This Be Love”, “Dreams”, and “Love Walks In” made me a more into playing music besides the clarinet and trumpet 😂🤣. I saw Sammy and Eddie with Kramers, so I had to get a couple. Of course as a kid, I didn’t really know that Ed’s and Sam’s Kramers were custom and not the store bought ones that I had, but I love them all the same. ….. oh, and the “Live Without a Net” concert video blew me away too. I still watch it. Loved Sam on “Love Walks In” doing the guitar part while Ed played keyboards. Anyway, I failed to mention before that I enjoyed your video and appreciate it. I’m going to monkey around with mine now too. See how different things work like and feel. Thanks for the review and demo of changes that you made. I am going to look into seeing what some changes to mine will be like. 👍🏻 ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ vid!

Thanks again for the kind words. I've been a VH fan since I was little...I was 6 when 1984 came out and I was instantly in love with it. Changed my life and it started the fire of someday playing guitar. Ed was always my favorite guitar player, and I'm still trying to play his parts.
