If I paste in a lot of text, how do I make it collapsable under a header/title? Right now each sentence or section is becoming it's own box of text...if that makes sense. Thanks!

If you put it under a parent bullet, you can then collapse that bullet!

Reflect does look like a good option for writing, but I have one question: How do you move the text from Reflect into whatever place you want to publish it? Just cut and paste? I haven't found a way to export a single note.

Yup, it copies in markdown so will paste into most applications with the proper formatting

You should consider posting a 1-2 minute explainer video just to highlight key features for people seeking to understand exactly what the product offers (comparable to other similar apps). If you have one, I couldn't find it (should be pinned at the top of your channel and website).

"older people from Evernote" ... hahahahaha ... oh, man, Alex, stop talking about me like that. On my 65th birthday even! (OK so I think I have been using tags wrong. I have been trying to *not* use them within the body of daily notes and only in the notes that aren't daily notes. And I do have a content list page like all the older people from Evenote, and it is really awkward and long, and so then I tried keeping a content calendar in Notion and hate it and dropped that. Way too much work. I will try your tag system. Much more straight forward.)

I think it would be really useful to see how different people actually use Reflect. Examples like these are great for specific functionality, but some of us aren't imaginative enough to see how these principles would apply to a profile with a mountain of notes (or maybe I'm the only one 😅).

I'm thinking about this again, and I'm interested to know what you would do about sub-projects. I'm preparing for a meeting with a business about producing a case study for a project they're running that my organisation has funded. I have a note for the business, for the grant (we've funded multiple projects), and for all the case studies (not all projects are getting one, some projects are funded with different grants). I like using backlinks within tasks, e.g., Prepare for meeting about [[Case Studies]] with [[Reflect]]'s [[XYZ Grant]] project, but where would you put those prep notes? If it's under the task in the daily note then it goes grey at the bottom of each backlinked page and things tend to get lost in a sea of every backlined line of text. If it's on the business's note, then that gets cluttered very quickly with all the different sub-projects relating to that business, e.g., Case Studies, Press Release, and misc notes. If it's on the [[Case Studies]] note, that gets clogged up with all the different case studies. I'm really interested to hear what you think.

I agree! I've given this a try, it's surprisingly difficult to get people to share their actual notes on video
@reflect-notes
@reflect-notes 8 сағат бұрын
For the projects, I'll typically create a project notes and then backlink to it wherever needed. You can then also add tasks to project, or under a nested bullet with the backlink. This will keep them organized in the task manager

I love Reflect and find it very beautiful, but I think Craft is better in terms of UI design. Reflect should be inspired by them to improve some elements of the user interface. For example, I would like to see more rounded corners, better animations, etc. Reflect New Page Extension is a good example of what I would like to see in Reflect

@@reflect-notes I think this is understandable rationale however in respect to the point by @mariomile Craft is pretty snappy these days and a very good UI .. it has other issues though like no e2e encryption. this said do really like Reflect esp in focus mode but the text can become hard on the eyes on mobile if eyesight is less than good even when using the 'large text' parameter (lists and backlinks etc .. perhaps a font/colour/spacing. consideration ?). anyway, great video and product

I think it's important for a productivity app to embrace methods used by people to be more productive, whether they're "how our brains work" or not. Backlinks and tags are great, but they could be greatly enhanced by additionally supporting nested folders, sort of how the mind palace approach works. For some of us, just looking at that structure helps think more clearly about priorities and objectives for the day. Bonus: since the sidebar is mostly empty right now, it would be a no-brainer to put a folder view right there.
@reflect-notes
@reflect-notes Ай бұрын
We'd disagree! Our brains can't categorize things into Folders. Regarding the empty space in the app, that's very intentional :)

@@reflect-notes There’s actually quite a bit of scientific literature that says otherwise. It’s too bad you’re not receptive of this feedback-your competitors over at Capacities understand it. I’d suggest you listen to your customers when developing a product (and maybe refrain from making unbacked claims about how the brain works, since we barely know it as a species), otherwise you might find yourselves developing something for nobody. :)

I’ve really tried to love Reflect Notes multiple times, but as someone with ADHD, I need colors to break up the text and avoid just seeing a big block of black-and-white phrases, even if they look nice and elegant, which they do. I always end up choosing other apps that let me use at least HTML or CSS to create different reading levels with colors because it helps me focus much better when I preview my text on the screen. So, when I think of Reflect Notes, the story of my repeated crush with the app looks something like this: ❤ ⇒ ⌨️ ⇒ 💔 ⇒ ❤️‍🩹 ⇒ ❤️ ⇒ ⌨️ ⇒ 💔💔⇒ 🤕 ⇒ 🪦 … And don't get me wrong: I write for a living 🤓

I think I'm convinced.... I've been using Amplenote, which I really love, but there's some functionality that's baked into the interface that I don't use, and other things I do use (like the excellent, flexible tagging system) that creates more "friction" than it should. The very stripped-down model of Reflect that doesn't let you get in your own way and focuses just on writing notes is proving to be much more efficient. Simple is better it seems.
