My old man loved to absently sing this song when I was a kid. Can’t help but think it had an effect.

I hate the delivery of, 'The sun is strong/It's hot as hell below.' It sounds so weirdly over-the-top and obnoxious.

You realise this is based off an actual event in French history? After the French revolution didn't change much in the country many young men tried to rebellious again and when people were to scared to help it resulted in the mass genocide of all these young students by the French government Also it's not cringe, many characters die by su1ci1de and are shot, it shows a real accurate depiction of the hard ships for ex convicts and getting jobs, many small stores refuse to hire them because it damages reputation of the store, this is shown in the performance when the main character comments how he only got paid half of what the other men are being paid, the main character spent 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his sister's dying child

When you're celebrating snapping out of a depressive episode with an all-day earworm of a "Look down, look down, you'll always be a slave, look down, look down, you're standing in your grave"... that's not weird, is it?

The dynamic between Jean Valjean and Javert is so symbolic to me personally as a Christian, one represents a life under the Spirit and the other represents life under the Law. Javert (the Law) reminds you of everything you've done wrong, and can only see you based on your sin, while the Spirit frees you from your sin, and give you grace to live a good, honorable life, and ultimately fulfills the law without making you a slave to it
