Agree the elastometers can be pretty stiff, I just use one yellow 50 but on an 80mm stem - and I’m 95kg. Works great.
@mr.g6089
@mr.g6089 2 жыл бұрын
I used the black one and it shrank to half of it size, after three months using it. Maybe it is because I speed a lot when I do downhills, I don´t know.

thanks, I enjoy it very much! The combination of the stem, the seatpost and the kitchensink handlebar has been amazing for me. I also have to say that the GPS I use ( wahoo) and the Garmin Radar have done great as well. I feel very confident when riding. I have a Fuji Touring size 54, I weigh around 95Kg too. Very happy with all. Happy riding, stay safe. Thanks for your comments and good will!

I live in CARACAS, VENEZUELA. I ride an average of 300km per week all around the city. I repeat routes every 15 to 20 days. You saw me riding south east of the City in this video. The fast downhill is coming from a neighborhood called LOS NARANJOS going towards a Commercial Center called Plaza Las Americas. The fastest urban downhill of the city. I can do 85kph tops. I am very satisfied with the stem since then, I am using 60-80 elastomers.

After watching your videos, I feel compelled to purchase a suspension seat post and stem for my hybrid bike. I hesitate a bit and wonder if perhaps I should purchase a light duty front fork with a lockout feature, which might actually work a bit better for absorbing shocks than a suspension stem? There will be a one to two pound weight penalty with a front fork over a suspension stem, but in exchange there will be more road dampening. I have V-brakes on my bike and was viewing the RockShock Recon Silver TK with 100 mm of travel, bosses for V-brakes (and also works with disc brakes), and a lockout feature to prevent bobbing on flat terrain. This fork is air suspended and is very tunable with positive and negative air spring chambers and best of all, costs $254, weight is 2.166 kg. Mr. G. let me know your thoughts on this. BTW, if you want to have a bike pen pal so we can discuss bike topics who lives in Washington state, let me know. Have a good evening! Gus

It all depends on the type of roads and rides you prefer. I ride over asphalt roads most of the time. The roads in my country are not in good shape, and I like to go fast on downhills, and this is the reason why I went for the pseudo suspension that Redshift offers. I am extremely satisfied with it. After this video, I have done more rides, and the more I use the combination of the stem and the seat post the better it gets. I f you feel that a front fork with suspension is suitable, go for it. But consider the kind of rides to make the right choice.
@polymathematics5837
@polymathematics5837 2 жыл бұрын
@@mr.g6089 Thanks for the reply! Based on your riding videos your road conditions are pretty bumpy...lol! The roads I ride are similar but with a bit more raised areas of asphalt due to tree roots growing under the pavement resulting in 2 or 3 cm bumps. You may want to consider a lighter duty suspension fork as well. Combined with the suspension stem, it would go far to calm your vibrating hands on those potholed roads on the way down the hill. If adding more weight to your bike is a concern, then your current setup is petfect. 😊
