If you want to justify a belief like "Choice exists and it matters in your life", the point "Environmental factors can alter genotype" which this video's trying to make is out of focus because you fail to argue you can influence on yourself (not by your rat mom). When you succeed in proving so you will see how much the environment affect your genotype is actually not significant at all - that matters only when you wish your child be born with better genetic profile.

Do you know any examples of evil parents having good kids ? Like dictators, or some serial killers kids happen to grow up to be doctors, and invent cure for something, something in that sense? I would prefer a historical example so i can show it to my friend, thank you.

As truthful as this is, I think we need to highlight the importance of neuroplasticity and understanding the reality that if we did grow up with "low-licking rat mothers," or, an environment lacking nurture and rather exposing neglect, we can become are of this and change the course of our future so it is a positive one. So even if we experienced trauma and neglect while young, we still have power to create new neural pathways in the brain even as adults and heal our trauma and create good lives for ourselves. The issue with this concept is there are countless amounts of children who are experiencing neglect, abuse, and trauma, and for them to see this video as an adult is probably going to be unsettling, especially if they do not have a degree, etc. It can make them feel hopeless. So we have to then look at the lives of highly successful people, who did experience extreme neglect and trauma, and what makes them different. It is also important to understand what we can do to support children who are growing up in a household of neglect, to ensure that they can change their own lives and create something better for themselves.

I think Nature in organisms is the result of their Nurture(environment). Look at how domisticated most lions(wild animals) are after they are raised by humans. They become big dependent cats(creatures/big kids), in comparison to what they would be in their wild environment. Ultimately, all species have a selfish nature; but it is only with intelligence/kindess that we are able to compromise and live with one another, because in civilization, it is crucial to our survival. If we want to become more civil, we need to come to understand that individuals are not to blame of their actions(neither because of their nature or nurture since both are things one can not control). AND we need to figure out a way to compromise ways to remove these flaws that prevent for innovation of humanity from growing/prospering. There is definitely an influence based on someone's genetics; but genetics are ultimately the result of environmental factors. If we trace it back to the very first creatures in evolution, their instincts were always to survive and not care about other creatures, even their own off spring and species. It was only when they developed intelligence, that they developed kindness/care, which they came to understand was crucial to their survival. Alot of people tend to bring examples of certain organisms in our planet who show no sign of kindness in their nature, regardless of their nurture(environment). Yes, thats because their species did not develop/evolve(environmental factors cause this) to the point of developing an intelligence that would give them feelings of empathy/care/and love. Thats the point. Their environments (nurture) did not allow them to have a good nature; but even with species that are rare to develop empathetic feelings/care/love, there seems to be rare cases where these species act, as opposed to majority of their species would. This could be the result of their own specific environments allowing them to develop a mutation that gave them a sense of emotional intelligence(care/love/empathy). This is because all organisms are STILL evolving(even us). And this is the result and has always been the result of what? OH YEAH! OUR ENVIRONMENTS!(nurture).

That last sentence is pure gold. Our choices can make real differences in how we develop as human beings. People really can change, even down to a biological level, and over time its as if they have become completely new people. That can go either way, good or bad. Depending on your choices.

Interesting and thought-provoking video! It's fascinating to see how twin brothers can have such differing personalities. The debate of nature vs. nurture is ongoing, and this video provides a great perspective on environmental and genetic factors influencing an individual's personality. I enjoyed working on this video as part of my assignment.
