About the same but with more consistency, can't keep it up for too long due to maxing rpms, attempting an upshift immediately drops the front end. I'm thinking about doing a big bore since it can be found rather cheap bringing displacement to 270, otherwise there is a 300cc but it's about 4x the price.

It was amazing and just as beautiful, I definitely suggest dirt or dual sport tires though, as much as we made the sm tires work, the right tires would've opened up more options and fun.

@@ExploreSuperMoto I have the dual sport version so would be no problem. But unfortunately for me, I don't have many places to ride off road. To be honest, I may have been better off with the sm version of this bike. But I'm going to put street tires on mine anyway. If I had access to this terrain you have, I'd leave my knobbies on.

Love it, do sometimes wish I started with the 300 though. The seat is a definite.. good for about 45 mins.. after that.. let's not go there 😅

@@ExploreSuperMoto I am not sure if you have seen or not but there is another guy on KZbin (PitBike Mike) that does a lot of videos on the klx230sm and he did a test ride at a demo day of the klx300. He said he prefers the 230 all day for a variety of reasons. I think it comes down to personal preference on features. I happen to like air cooled bikes for the simplicity and while the 230 isn't going to win any races, it's plenty of power for most.

@ I've seen some his videos but not that one, I'll check it out. At this point I'm thinking big bore. There's a decently cheap kit that brings the bike up to 270cc.

@@ExploreSuperMoto There is a 300cc big bore kit available but for me I'd rather keep it as is, enough power for me. But you may want to try it. Just google hivolt spares and click in the klx230 parts and look it up, it's like 1200 bucks.

Thanks, Not going too crazy in the gravel with the street tires. I have never noticed the pipes glowing and have rode about 60 miles, in high rpm range. This is also prior to me wrapping the pipes and in 110° Arizona Heat. Did you pick it up used.. possible timing issue?

no i bought it new from the dealer and i was told its normal .. especially at night you will see is glowing red and it disappeared when i start riding. Ride safe.
