This is the Canon EOS R5 8K HEVC 10Bit in c-Log. Denoised with Neat Video Plugin, sharpened with "SuperScale 2x" in Davinci Resolve Studio. Frame interpolation from 25p to 50p also in Davinci Resolve Studio. You should have an RTX4090 for this.

Hallo Hoppi, seit Januar 2022 mache ich alle Videos mit der Canon EOS R5 und dem RF 5.2mm f2.8L Dual Fisheye Objektiv. Hello Huebi, may I ask how your video quality turns out so good? After watching your videos, I was really impressed with the beautiful quality of the Canon R5C + RF 5.2mm f/2.8L Dual Fisheye, so I bought one as well. However, when I used it for the first time last weekend to shoot a friend’s wedding, the footage came out with a lot of noise, unlike the soft and beautiful look in your videos. I was wondering, do you use post-processing to remove noise? Would you recommend a specific method for reducing noise? And is it better to set the ISO to 3200 while shooting in the dark? I would be extremely grateful if you could give me some guidance. 🙏 Really appreciate it!!

Hello Howie, I have an R5, not an R5c. The older recordings were all made in PAL 25p 8Bit HEVC Y420 with a shutter speed of 1/25s. The camera's default setting is to reduce contrast and sharpness to the lowest value. In daylight, use ND 16 or ND32 sensor clip-in filter. This creates much less noise with maximum image details in the shadows. At 10Bit with min. ISO400, there is significantly more noise, c-log3 with ISO800 is useless for VR. Until a year ago, I aligned stereoscopically in Magix ProX and cropped to native 180 degrees and converted 2:1 to VR180 in the second pass using the 360 stitching function at a viewpoint of 270. Everything in batch processing. Frame interpolation with Davinvi Resolve Studio. Only then are the clips edited into a complete video. I have been using the EOS VR Utility for a year now because of the fisheye stabilization, HEVC Y4:4:4. For a few months now I have also been using a short shutter because the hardware and software for frame interpolation to 50p have improved. Almost all videos are denoised with the NEAT Video Plug in for Magix. Recently I have also been using NEAT Video in Resolve on the RTX4090. With the RTX3090 there were error messages. Topaz is too slow and synthetic for me. Structural errors occur in trees. Recently I have also been using the normal C-Log with ISO400, but then I have to denoise more in daylight. With the R5c you have to rely on RAW with a lot more noise for 50p or 60p. I have already had many R5c files here for restoration. Do a test run with base ISO 1600 and 3200 to see which settings give you the best results. I always spoke the settings straight into the camera microphone and quickly found out in the VR glasses what was good and what wasn't. Denoising is a must with the R5c. Since ISO800 is very noisy, you can also render from the VR Utility at 6K and then have a faster rendering process for the video restoration (there is no other way to describe it). Later you can stay with 8K. Denoise NEAT Video, sharpen Davinci Resolve Studio "SuperScale 2x" sharpen hight, denoise low. Contrast "Contrast Pop 0.100" Colors "DeHaze" 0.400. are my standard settings. From the R5c RAW-LT I go to Wide DR in the VR Utility, a LOG as an interim solution only makes sense if you use proxy files and have to make settings for them in the post process. Best regards Thomas

@@HuebiVR Hello Huibe. I’m incredibly grateful for your generous sharing of experience-it’s been so valuable to me. I’ll be testing your approach, as this is my first time working with photography; I’ve mostly used my phone for capturing images before, so I still have a lot to learn. I use the Canon R5 with the RF 5.2mm DualFisheye lens on a DJI RS3 gimbal. Recording as 8K25p HEVC 8Bit (for low noise). Important: I changed the default settings in the camera: sharpness reduced to second to last level, contrast reduced to minimum, color saturation minus 2, hue 0. I have the clarity function set to -3. Software: 1. Canon VR Utility HEVC 4:4:4 8192x4096. 2. Davinci Resolve Studio 7680x3840 25p with DeHaze 0.400 render to single clips. 3. Magix ProX16 video editing to music with beat detection. NEAT Video plugin for noise reduction. Batch processing of the timeline into individual clips without any additional effects, just NEAT video. This is the fastest option and for streaming everything has to be clean and noise-free (low data rate, noise is the most important image information). 4. Davinci Resolve Studio finished individual clips and complete sound track from Magix in new project 7680x3840 50p frame interpolation optical flow spreed wrap (or a simpler variant) and on the edit page "Super Scale 2x" sharpness high, denoise low. Render timeline. Preferably with the MainConcept Davinci Resolve plugin, default 12K 8Bit with timeline resolution 7680x3840 and aspect ratio 2:1. You can also denoise the result from Resolve 25p in a new project in Resolve with Neat Video, on the RTX4090 I have 4 to 4.5 fps overall. At 25p, 1 minute of video takes over 5 minutes.

I had ordered directly from the German importer and retailer and had to complain about 1 lens. You simply remember the manual focus setting at e.g. f8. With a sensor clip-in filter, the focus point is then shifted. Since you see almost nothing with ND1000, first measure against a light source at e.g. f8. Have fun 🙂

The quality of this video on DeoVR is excellent. A surprising amount of detail is visible in the paintings and still exhibits. It seems that the stereoscopic effect is strongest when the subject is close (<5m). I noticed that the still images are much more detailed than the videos, perhaps due to video compression. Thank you for posting this video - it was very helpful in my decision to buy this lens. Cheers from USA.

In the museum I had to shoot at high ISO without a tripod. This is a problem with VR and 3D. The format of the photos with the RF 5.2mm requires a special workflow for RAW photos, as the Canon tool only supports JPG: 1. Development in DxO Photolab 6 without lens corrections/CA, otherwise stereoscopic errors will occur with 2 optics on one sensor. 2. Converting the images as a batch with SPM (StereoPhotoMaker). The far point (outdoor) is fixed/equally aligned to zero for all images, left/right swapped, cropped to native 180 degrees (3600x3600 per eye), fisheye converted to equirectangular. Then I use the "Low Resolution" settings in Topaz Gigapixel AI to free the images from CA and bring them to a standard size. For video 7680x3840 or twice that for the HP Reverb G2. Video is also good, but DeoVR degrades the quality. I'm using the 8K25p HEVC 8Bit recording setting, but with the contrast at zero (changed from the default setting in the camera) and the clarity also at zero. First step is 3D alignment and cropping to native 180 degrees (3600x3600 per eye) and enhanced optical flow to double the frame rate in Davinci Resolve Studio. The second step with conversion from fisheye to eqirectrangular and sharpness 50 to 60 takes place in Magix ProX13 (ProX14 currently has a problem with the 2:1 export). If that's too complicated, you can also use Canon's tool for 8-bit HEVC. The tool is free of charge for up to 2 minutes per individual video clip. Batch processing works, calculation runs on the CPU and video encoding on the GPU. However, I don't like that noise in shadows leads to compression artifacts. If you don't already have a Canon R5, I would look at the Canon R5c. With an external power source 8K60p as RAW is cumbersome (handling, requires a lot of storage space, external 65W power bank), but makes a lot of sense for movements in VR. I find my last video on DeoVR terribly compressed. As a comparison, I'll let you upload to Google Drive for a short time: drive.google.com/file/d/1dbLVZaqnAr4S7FMYeoNkENqQq8ODIP5f/view?usp=sharing
